MGM Supplement: How Can Thinking Positive Effect Your Health?

Positive Thinking
People with positive attitudes generally enjoy life more, but are they any healthier? The answer is often "yes." Optimism is a resource for healing. Optimists are more likely to overcome pain and adversity in their efforts to improve their medical treatment outcomes. For example, optimistic coronary bypass patients generally recover more quickly and have fewer complications after surgery than do patients who are less hopeful.

Your body responds to your thoughts, emotions, and actions. In addition to staying fit, eating right, and managing stress, you can use the following three strategies to help maintain your health:

1. Create positive expectations for health and healing.
Mental and emotional expectations can influence medical outcomes. The effectiveness of any medical treatment depends in part on how useful you expect it to be. The "placebo effect" proves this. A placebo is a drug or treatment that provides no medical benefit except for the patient's belief that it will help. Many patients who receive placebos report satisfactory relief from their medical problem, even though they received no actual medication.

Changing your expectations from negative to positive may enhance your physical health. Here's how to make the change:

Stop all negative self-talk. Make positive statements that promote your recovery.
Send yourself a steady stream of affirmations. An affirmation is a phrase or sentence that sends strong, positive statements to you about yourself, such as "I am a capable person" or "My joints are strong and flexible." Visualize health and healing. Add mental pictures that support your positive affirmations. Don't feel guilty. There is no value in feeling guilty about health problems. While there is a lot you can do to reduce your risk for health problems and improve your chances of recovery, some illnesses may develop and persist no matter what you do. Some things just are. Do the best you can.

2. Open yourself to humor, friendship, and love.
Positive emotions boost your health. Fortunately, almost anything that makes you feel good about yourself helps you stay healthy.

Laugh - A little humor makes life richer and healthier. Laughter increases creativity, reduces pain, and speeds healing. Keep an emergency laughter kit that contains funny videotapes, jokes, cartoons, and photographs. Put it with your first-aid supplies and keep it well stocked.
Seek out friends - Friendships are vital to good health. Close social ties help you recover more quickly from illness and reduce your risk of developing diseases ranging from arthritis to depression.
Volunteer - People who volunteer live longer and enjoy life more than those who do not volunteer. By helping others, we help ourselves.
Plant a plant and pet a pet. Plants and pets can be highly therapeutic. When you stroke an animal, your blood pressure goes down and your heart rate slows. Animals and plants help us feel needed.

3. Appeal to a higher power.

If you believe in a higher power, ask for support in your pursuit of healing and health. Faith, prayer, and spiritual beliefs can play an important role in recovering from an illness. See healing touch and spiritual healing.

Your sense of spiritual wellness can help you overcome personal trials and things you cannot change. If it suits you, use spiritual images in visualizations, affirmations, and expectations about your health and your life.

MGM Supplement: Do You Have Allergies?

Alergies have effected my life ever since I was just a small child. I have come to find that they are nothing but a huge pain. When I was seven I joined 4-H and started to show horses. I loved showing horses but for some reason my head was always stuffed up and I would get a blistering head aches.

Well we finally ended up going to the doctor one day because my congestion was so bad that I ended up in the emergency room. The next day I went to be tested for allergies and found that I was basically allergic to everything under the sun. ( horses, grass, trees, nuts, dust, wheat, ect. ) Alergy testing was a very painful process for me, and I would never recomend to anyone. After trying several medications that had no effect it was decided that I needed to recieve alergy shots. I was just happy that I was finally going to be able to lead a normal life like everyone else my age. Little did I know.....

After about three trips in the the doctors office for a shot, it happened. I had an allergic reaction to the shot. My whole arm swoll up and hurt for about two days. It was a pretty scarry experience because they had told me that if I had not been in the doctors office when the reaction took place it could have been fatal.

From that point on my mother an I decided against the whole allergie shot thing. Luckily not to long after this experience my mother became a shaklee distributor. Without the products that she was getting I would probably still be struggling with allergies. I still have to stay away from horses, but I feel so much better overall because of the supplements she gave me.

Here are the products that I take for allergies

Garlic - I usally take two of these a day. It helps booste the imune system
Alfalfa - It's kinda funny that when tested for allergies they found I was allergic to alfalfa hay. The pills however work as a natural decongestant and healer that work well for me
Chewable Vita C - This stuff work great when I get a sore thoat. I just suck on them like they are hard candy. Not only do they soothe away the pain but they taste like sweet tarts.
Nutriferon - This is a great product that builds your immune system. I can definatly tell when I forget to take this. It's like a magic pill that just knocks the bug right out.
Optiflora - This basically takes all the bad bacteria out of your gut and puts the good bacteria back in it. This is very important because it has been speculated that most allergies are caused by the bad bacteria in out gut.

Another very important piece of this puzzle is a Air Source 3000. This product is almost a decade in front of the competition.

The air that is our homes most time is much worse for us than the air outside. If you don't believe me then just wait until the sun is out and open up a window shade. More than likely your going to see a bunch of things floating particals in the air. This is a breeding ground for the dust mites that have been known to contribute to allergies, asthma, and emphazima.

If you are haveing problems with allergies I would definatley suggest at least trying MGM Supplements. If you don't like them you can send them back and get your money back. I know from personal experience that these product do work very well and you'll love the results.

MGM Supplement: Do You Believe in Miracles?

Setting new goals or trying to make changes can be downright overwhelming. Many of you are busting your buns to "just make it happen and keep it together." Bills, food, rent, school, work -- in other words, basic survival. I'm communicating about eating healthy and exercising as a necessity, but you're telling me that, for a lot of you, it's become a luxury.

I wish I was brilliant enough to come up with a solution to a very complex issue. To make it easier for those of you in this reality, let's look at exercise and eating healthy as a luxury -- something that costs you both time and money. What can you do to tackle this situation? Well, let me ask you something. Do you believe in miracles? I hear stories all around me about real miracles. People who can't see but perform amazing feats that even people with sight can't do. Individuals who are deathly ill but believe that they will recover, and they do. The stories go on and on.

Try to view your life as a place where miracles can occur. I say this because a lot of you may have stopped believing that it's possible to make changes. You think that you've tried every diet and not seen any results. You started exercising more but quit when you didn't see any difference.

When someone goes to climb Mt. Everest, they don't look up all the way to the top. They start with a single step. One step at a time gets them to the top. There are even sections where the climbers only take a step every 30 seconds. It's not about the speed either -- it's just about forging ahead. Believing.

Go look in the mirror and tell yourself that you believe that the miracle of change can happen for you too. Can't lose the weight? No time? Defeated? Not a lot of excess cash to throw around? What can you do to make this change in you and your life?

1. Believe -- Gotta change the way you're thinking. Rustle up that power from within to say that miracle is going to happen to you.

2. Food: Cut down on your portions. If you can only afford a certain kind of food, pick the lesser of the evils.

Avoid fried foods.
Chill on the bread.
Forget sodas and juices (even though, sickly, they are cheaper than water).
Try to eat something green.
Watch out for too much sugar.
Don't starve yourself (make sure you are getting enough calories).
Beware of too many snacks (a chip here and there will get you in time).
Try to put as much "real" food in your mouth as possible.
Avoid too many things from a can, bag, jar, or microwave. Pretend you are a caveman and try to eat the types of foods that would have been available then.

3. Exercise: Anything is better than nothing.

Walk where you can.
Sweat at least 4 times a week.
When you are watching TV, do sit-ups, pushups (even if you do them on your knees), and squats with your body weight during commercials.
Take the stairs instead of the escalator or elevator (think of Mt. Everest).
Be conscious of your body. Feel your stomach and butt muscles. Connect with yourself. Wake up those babies and get to know them. Focus on the mind-body connection.
If you have a pair of dumbbells around, use them. Do some basic exercises -- biceps, shoulders, triceps, and chest. Nothing elaborate. Do 3 sets of 10-12 reps, 3 times a week. That would take you about 10 minutes, so don't make it a big deal. Just get it done. Even if you only have 10 or 20 minutes, move.

4. Sleep: Make sure you are getting as much sleep as you can.

Turn off your TV and computer and get to bed.
Try to get to bed as early as you can since the hours before midnight are like gold for recovery.

5. Stress: This is the killer right here.

Try to practice staying calm as a discipline. Ask yourself if a situation is life or death and what level of a reaction it deserves. Remember that the hormones you release when you amp out are very damaging to your system. Hours after you are "over it," your reaction is still taking a toll on your body.

If you have something to say to someone, say it! You don't have to be a lunatic -- just speak up. Communicate your feelings, and you can really lower your stress level.
Note: Exercise and good food help with processing and releasing stress.

6. Have Some Fun: Whatever you are doing or wherever you are, try to have some fun and enjoy something within the situation.

Smile, it feels good.
Laugh, it feels better.
I'm sorry I don't have all the answers, but with your help and constructive comments, we can continue to try and nail down the solutions. We all can experience a miracle. We just have to have that faith. And remember one last thing -- you are special.

MGM Supplement: Get Ready to Shed Those Pounds For the New Year

The Dreaded Diet Cycle
If you are like most people, you’ve struggled with your weight at one time or another. You’ve been on every fad diet. Initially you lose some weight, but then you gain it back and find yourself heavier than before. This is the dreaded cycle of yo-yo dieting. Yes, in the short term you can lose the weight, but every time you do this you may be doing more damage than good because your body thinks it’s experiencing a “famine”. In response to that famine, your body goes into survival mode and conserves energy by slowing down your metabolism. Your body does its best to hold on to the fat you have for as long as it can. So, with many diets the weight you initially lose is from fat and muscle. And that loss of muscle slows down your metabolism even further because muscle burns calories. Muscle=Metabolism. There are also common challenges — emotional and other physical ones that come along with dieting. Many diets are too restrictive or monotonous, or leave you feeling deprived and don’t teach you how to permanently change your eating and exercise habits. They leave you feeling hungry, tired and craving the foods you miss most. You’ve about had it, so you return to your old eating habits and gain the weight back. MGM Supplement: "Becoming Extraordinary"

How do athletes go from contender to superstar? How do ordinary people become extraordinary? Here's a secret to achieve breakthrough performance in your everyday life.

Everyone has times when they feel like they are unstoppable, times when they are doing whatever it is they do with ease, grace and incredible skill. But no one, not even the best of the best, can operate in that ideal performance-state 100% of the time.

The secret to achieving extraordinarily high levels of performance is learning how to take command of your mind and body so that you can operate at your peak when you need to, and relax and recover in between. Here's how:

First, goal-setting is a key. Many people don't like to set goals because they don't like to fail. However, you must develop mental toughness if you're going to grow, and setting and achieving goals is one way to do it. Another way is to develop the ability to get rid of negative thoughts when they occur and substitute images of success and positive results.

Finally, sticking to a sensible program of self-care - including good nutrition, regular restful sleep, built-in periods of laughter and play, and vigorous physical exercise - will do wonders for your self-image.

It is natural to start thinking about these things as we approach a new year. So why not take that natural year-end energy, refuse to settle for "ordinary" in your life, and goal-set to go after the extraordinary. If you do, go after it with everything you have and believe in your ability to do it!

MGM Supplement: What You Should Know About The Obesity Epidemic....

Many Americans have weight problems, and carrying those extra pounds jeopardizes just about every aspect of their health, according to a new study. It's nothing new to know that excess weight is often accompanied by health problems, such as type 2 diabetes or heart disease. But the latest rundown of conditions is stunningly long and diverse, covering 41 topics including asthma, heart failure, high blood pressure, depression, fatigue, osteoarthritis, and stress.

The list was compiled by researchers, including Ruth Patterson, PhD, RD, of the Cancer Prevention Research Program at the Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center in Seattle. Patterson and colleagues studied 73,000 people aged 50 to 76 in western Washington state. Each person filled out a 24-page questionnaire covering height, weight, and a battery of health conditions.

Based on the responses, the researchers calculated body mass index (BMI) to gauge participants' total body fat. Among the women, almost 60% were overweight or obese. For the men, nearly 73% were overweight or obese. Overweight BMI ranges from 25-29.9; obese BMI is at least 30.

Few participants -- less than 10% for both genders -- said they were current smokers. Almost all (93%) were white, and 42% said they had completed at least 16 years of education.

Weight-Related Health Problems

Higher BMI was tied to 37 out of 41 health conditions for women and 29 out of 41 for men. "Of the conditions examined, 90% were associated with increased BMI in women and 71% in men," write the researchers in the December issue of the American Journal of Preventive Medicine.

For women, morbid obesity (defined as a BMI of 35 or greater) was shown to be associated with a more than 12-fold risk of diabetes, an almost 12-fold risk of knee replacement, a sixfold risk of heart failure, a fivefold risk of high blood pressure and gallbladder removal, and a fourfold risk of potentially life-threatening clots to the lungs, chronic fatigue/lack of energy, and insomnia. Morbidly obese men had a similar list. With the strongest associations seen in diabetes (eightfold risk), knee replacement (sixfold), high blood pressure (sixfold), heart failure (fourfold), and fatigue and lack of energy and insomnia (fourfold).

Morbidly obese men had slightly lower rates of enlarged prostate.

Time's Toll

The group only included older adults, and it's not known when their weight problems started. Adding a pound or two every year or so may sound harmless, but as the study shows, it all adds up over time.

Some conditions, such as high blood pressure, might be caused by excess weight. Others could be part of a vicious cycle. "For example, depression may result in weight gain, which can lead to depression," write the researchers, calling for "effective and practical" ways to prevent weight gain and fight obesity.

MGM Supplement: Limber Brain Keeps Seniors Sharp

Artical Source (Reuters)

In an indication that the brain like the body needs exercise in old age, researchers reported on Tuesday that older people given training in mental functions stayed sharper for years afterward.

The training involved formal sessions using such things as mnemonics that teach people to remember by using acronyms and rhymes. But it is reasonable to infer that games like Sudoko that emphasize reasoning skills could have some of the same benefits, said Michael Mariske of the University of Florida, one of the authors of the study.

He said one of the study's surprises was that the impact of formal training in memory, reasoning and speed of thinking could still be traced five years later in a group of people who's average age was 73 when the research began.

And since the training lasted only 10 to 18 hours in all, "imagine if you could do something like Sudoko where people practice these skills every day," he said in an interview.

Sherry Willis of Pennsylvania State University, lead author of the study, said "Older adults really can continue to exercise mentally and to improve their cognitive abilities ... It's just like physical exercise ... Always challenge oneself. Don't do the same activity over and over in a routinized manner."

This and other research shows "the promise of non-drug treatments" to combat mental decline in aging, added Sally Shumaker of Wake Forest University School of Medicine.

"The medications available today produce only low to moderate improvements in mental function. And they can have adverse side effects," she said. "Showing that cognitive training can protect mental function means that individuals who cannot tolerate existing drugs would have additional treatment options."

INDEPENDENT LIVING

"It's possible to envision a future treatment approach that combines lifestyle and drug treatments to meet the specific needs of each individual," Shumaker added.

The study, published in this week's Journal of the American Medical Association, involved more than 2,800 people with an average age of 73 who were living independently in several U.S. cities. It ran from 1998 through 2004.

Some of those in the study were given the formal training in memory, reasoning and speed of processing plus booster sessions in ensuing years and others got no training.

"Immediately after training, individuals who were trained on memory or individuals who were trained on reasoning or speed showed significantly higher performance than those who received no training," Willis said.

After five years all trained participants reported less difficulty compared with the untrained group in performing important activities of daily living, the study said.

The research provides "limited evidence that cognitive interventions can reduce age-related decline in self-reported instrumental activities of daily living that are the precursors of dependence ... associated with increased use of hospital, outpatient, home health, nursing home services, and health care expenditures," the report concluded.

It cautioned, however, that more study is needed since it would probably take more than five years to find the full extent of the training, given that those studied were living independently when the research began.

MGM Supplement: Have You Ever Herd of MSG?

An excellent article from www.sos4weight.com (used to be smallmeasures.com) Check out their new website. This is a very informative article.

The joys of MSG...

I've known for some years about the addictiveness of MSG - apparently what it does is dampens the brainwaves that tell your brain that your tummy is full, which is why you get that old saying about Chinese food -once you've finished your meal, you want another one. But what I didn't realise is that it is so prevalent in everyday foods. Now I'm quite worried about all those things I consider to be "more-ish". I will be checking out my labels and might even turn over a new leaf regarding processed food.

Remember----usually if the label says "natural flavourings" it is the common euphemism for MSG. Since so many people are concerned about weight I thought I would
pass this on(though I am aware of other causes of obesity, like aspartame, and also the adeno virus):

Slow Poisoning

I wondered if there could be an actual chemical causing the massive obesity epidemic, so did John Erb. He was a research assistant at the University of Waterloo, and spent years working for the government.

He made an amazing discovery while going through scientific journalsfor a book he was writing called The Slow Poisoning of America. In hundreds of studies around the world, scientists were creating obese mice and rats to use in diet or diabetes test studies.

No strain of rat or mice is naturally obese, so the scientists have to create them. They make these morbidly obese creatures by injecting them with MSG when they are first born. The MSG triples the amount of insulin the pancreas creates, causing rats (and humans?) to become obese They even have a title for the race of fat rodents they create: "MSG-Treated Rats"

MSG?

I was shocked too. I went to my kitchen, checking the cupboards and the fridge. MSG was in everything! The Campbell's soups, the Hostess Doritos, the Lays flavoured potato chips, Top Ramen, Betty Crocker Hamburger Helper, Heinz canned gravy, Swanson frozen prepared meals, Kraft salad dressings, especially the 'healthy low fat' ones.

The items that didn't have MSG had something called Hydrolyzed Vegetable Protein, which is just another name for Monosodium Glutamate. It was shocking to see just how many of the foods we feed our children everyday are filled with this stuff. They hide MSG under many different names in order to fool those who catch on.

But it didn't stop there. When our family went out to eat, we started asking at the restaurants what menu items had MSG. Many employees, even the managers, swore they didn't use MSG. But when we ask for the ingredient list, which they grudgingly provided, sure enough MSG and Hydrolyzed Vegetable Protein were everywhere. Burger King, McDonalds, Wendy's, Taco Bell, every restaurant, even the sit down ones like TGIF, Chilis', Applebees and Denny's use MSG in abundance. Kentucky Fried Chicken seemed to be the WORST offender: MSG was in every chicken dish, salad dressing and gravy. No wonder I loved to eat that coating on the skin, their secret spice was MSG!

So why is MSG in so may of the foods we eat? Is it a preservative or a vitamin? Not according to my friend John. In the book he wrote, an expose of the food additive industry called The Slow Poisoning of America, www.spofamerica.com, he said that MSG is added to food for the addictive effect it has on the human body. Even the propaganda website sponsored by the food manufacturers lobby group supporting MSG at: file://www.msgfacts.com/facts/msgfact12.html explains that the reason they add it to food is to make people eat more. A study of elderly people showed that people eat more of the foods that it is added to. The Glutamate Association lobby group says eating more benefits the elderly, but what does it do to the rest of us?

'Betcha can't eat just one', takes on a whole new meaning where MSG is concerned! And we wonder why the nation is overweight? The MSG manufacturers themselves admit that it addicts people to their products. It makes people choose their product over others, and makes people eat more of it than they would if MSG wasn't added. Not only is MSG scientifically proven to cause obesity, it is an addictive substance! Since its introduction into the American food supply fifty years ago, MSG has been added in larger and larger doses to the pre-packaged meals, soups, snacks and fast foods we are tempted to eat everyday. The FDA has set no limits on how much of it can be added to food. They claim it's safe to eat in any amount. How can they claim it is safe when there are hundreds of scientific studies with titles like these? The monosodium glutamate (MSG) obese rat as a model for the study of exercise in obesity. Gobatto CA, Mello MA, Souza CT, Ribeiro IA. Res Commun Mol Pathol Pharmacol. 2002 Adrenalectomy abolishes the food-induced hypothalamic serotonin release in both normal and monosodium glutamate-obese rats. Guimaraes RB, Telles MM, Coelho VB, Mori RC, Nascimento CM, Ribeiro Brain Res Bull. 2002 Aug

Obesity induced by neonatal monosodium glutamate treatment in spontaneously hypertensive rats: an animal model of multiple risk factors. Hypertens Res. 1998 Mar Hypothalamic lesion induced by injection of monosodium glutamate in suckling period and subsequent development of obesity. Tanaka K, Shimada M, Nakao K, Kusunoki Exp Neurol. 1978 Oct

Yes, that last study was not a typo, it WAS written in 1978. Both the medical research community and food "manufacturers" have known MSG's side effects for decades! Many more studies mentioned in John Erb's book link MSG to Diabetes, Migraines and headaches, Autism, ADHD and even Alzheimer's. But what can we do to stop the food manufactures from dumping fattening and addictive MSG into our food supply and causing the obesity epidemic we now see?

There is a bill in Congress called the "Personal Responsibility in Food Consumption Act" also known as the "Cheeseburger Bill", this sweeping law bans anyone from suing food manufacturers, sellers and distributors. Even if it comes out that they purposely added an addictive chemical to their foods Last month the House of Representatives passed the "Personal Responsibility in Food Consumption Act" to protect the food and beverage industry from civil lawsuits. Under the measure, known as the "Cheeseburger Bill," people who buy food or drinks couldn't sue the companies that made them, the stores that sold them or the restaurants that served them if they got fat from the products, so long as the products met existing laws.

The Senate is expected to take up a similar bill later this year." The Bill has already been rushed through the House of Representatives, and is due for the same rubber stamp at Senate level.

Several months ago, John Erb took his book and his concerns to one of the highest government health officials in Canada. While sitting in the Government office, the official told him "Sure I know how bad MSG is, I wouldn't touch the stuff!" But this top level government official refused to tell the public what he knew. The big media doesn't want to tell the public either, fearing legal issues with their advertisers. It seems that the fallout on the fast food industry may hurt their profit margin.

MGM Supplement: Can Supplements Prevent Vision Loss?

MACULAR DEGENERATION
Macular degeneration causes a progressive visual loss due to degeneration of the macula, the portion of the retina responsible for fine vision. Macular degeneration is the leading cause of severe visual loss in the United States and Europe in people over fifty-five years old. This loss of vision may appearsuddenly or it may progress slowly. Usually peripheral and color are unaffected.

There are two types of macular degeneration: atrophic (or "dry") and exudative("wet"). In the latter type, the degeneration of the macula is accompanied by hemorrhaging or leaking of fluid from a network of tiny blood vessels that develop under the center of the retina. This results in scarring and loss of vision.

Macular degeneration is probably the result of free radical damage similar to the type of damage that induces cataracts. Factors that predispose a person to developing macular degeneration include aging, atherosclerosis, hypertension, and environmental toxins. Heredity may play a role as well.

RECOMMENDED NUTRIENTS:
Formula I has Vitamins A, C, E and Zinc all essential for eye health

CarotoMax -- 2-3 good for all eye disorders daily. Increase if you don't see improvement in 2-3 weeks. CarotoMax contains Lutein, Lycopene and Zeaxanthin

Macular Degeneration Study

NBC NEWS, Dec. 3, 2001
By Robert Bazell, chief science correspondent for NBC News

Macular Degeneration Study Excerpts:

A new study of almost 5,000 people found that supplements slow vision loss. Vitamins plus zinc can head off macular degeneration.

Reading aids can help people cope with macular degeneration, but until now there was little to be done about the underlying condition. High doses of common supplements - zinc along with vitamins A, C and E - can slow or even prevent the development of macular degeneration, an age-related vision ailment that affects 10 million Americans. "TWENTY-FIVE PERCENT of people who would have developed
this are going to be protected from developing it by taking these simple supplements," said lead researcher Dr. Frederick Ferris.

One such person is Dorothy Braun. She long ago was forced to stop driving and now she even has trouble cooking. "I cannot read the labels on the spices," she said.

The vitamin regimen - which involved daily doses of tablets containing vitamins C, E and beta-carotene plus zinc - could be the first effective treatment for people with intermediate stages of the disease, said Dr. Paul Sieving, director of the National Eye Institute, which conducted the study. "This is an exciting discovery," Sieving said. The study was published in the October issue of the Archives of Ophthalmology.

Macular degeneration does not strike without warning. Years before a person loses any sight, doctors can see changes in the eye. Large particles called drusen accumulate in the eye beneath the macula, the area at the center of the retina at the back of the eye. The result is that a person's vision deteriorates, starting with the center and growing out toward the sides. That process occurs in about 20 percent of people 60 and over. The supplements can save precious sight well into old age.

MGM Supplement: Cinch Weight Loss Testimony

Testimony from Sandy B.,
First...a little background. Sandy is 60 years old and is diabetic. About a year ago, Sandy had started at Curves and paid attention to her diet and lost 25 pounds in about 3 months. Then I met her and she started using the MGM Supplement Foundation (the strip and the protein) which made her feel great. And she was able to stay with the diabetic diet and keep the weight from coming back because of the nutrition. Being diabetic, Sandy was a little couscous about going on the Cinch Plan...after all...if she was having great results with the Foundation why change. But because she wants to build a business, Sandy decided to give it a try. After all, if it didn't agree with her she knew she would get her money back. It wasn't going to be life-threating just to try it.

Sandy started on MGM Suppplement's Cinch Plan October 6th and couldn't believe that she wasn't hungry or experiencing any dip in energy or any of that strange feeling a diabetic feels when their food chemistry is off! She lost weight and inches steadily.

She went to her usual medical check up on November 2nd and her doctor was just amazed at her blood work! Her cholesterol dropped from 178 to 124. That's down 54 points since July!!! And her Glycohemoglobin (AIC) was 9.1 in July and now it was 7.2!!! He was elated with this as the range they want for a diabetic is between 4.0 to 6.0 ----WOW! And to top it all off, she had lost 19 pounds since July! No wonder she's been feeling so good!

She also told the doctor that her toe nails were almost looking normal!!! He said, "Let me take a look at those toes! Why, yes they are!!!" Then he just sat back in amazement and said..."Okay...what are you doing different? This is fantastic!!!" So Sandy told him...without detail...about Cinch. "MGM has this Cinch Plan where you take 2 shakes a day, have their snacks and eat a normal meal and wear this pedometer to make sure you get 10,000 steps in a day!" He liked that idea and told her he wanted her to schedule an appointment with his office staff to tell them about this Cinch Plan. He said, "I have 8 gals who work in my office and they are always on a diet and nothing good happens like this! I want them to know about this!" (Sandy and I were thinking that if they were on diets that their attitudes might be a little crabby as well!) He said, "You call the office manage, Barb, and have her give you the time."

Needless to say, Sandy walked out of that office on air! A great report on her health and contacts who are interested because the doctor recommended Cinch to his staff. When Sandy called the office manager the lady was really excited and set the appointment.
Since then, Sandy uses her experience in conversation with her friends and has gotten appointment with them as well!

MGM Supplement: Are You Really Getting Enough Vitamin C?

Why MGM Supplement Vita-C Supplementation is Necessary:
Now You C It, Now You Don't

When it comes to Vitamin C, what you see on the vitamin charts isn't what you get. Orange juice loses 30 percent of its vitamin C soon after it's squeezed, and commercial orange juice has almost no natural vitamin C left, according to The Real Vitamin and Mineral Book.

Potatoes, when freshly dug, may have 30 milligrams of vitamin C per 100 grams, but go down to 8 milligrams by spring and almost none by summer. The C content in apples falls by 60 percent a couple of months after picking. Green vegetables lose almost all their vitamin C after a few days at room temperature. And blanching vegetables before canning or freezing can destroy up to 60 percent of vitamin C.

By the time fresh peas are cooked, only 44 percent of the original vitamin C may remain; 17 percent remains in frozen peas and only 6 percent is left in canned peas.

MGM Supplement: Are You Getting the Right Kind of Calcium?

Testimony: By T. Fowler

The Incredibly Superior Calcium Source

Recently, while running in the street near my son's house in Alabama, I blew out my left knee. I called my wife, Sharyn, in Florida, and told her what had happened and that I was going to limp home. I asked her to get me an appointment with the surgeon that had operated on my son, Craig. Craig had both knees done when he was a wrestler at Countryside High School in Clearwater, Florida, some 20 years earlier.

The following morning, I was at The Florida Knee and Orthopedic Center. First came the paperwork and X-rays, and then into the consultation room to wait for Dr. John Barrett. Dr. Barrett stepped through the door and went directly to my X-rays clipped up on the lighted viewing area. I was seated behind the door so he had not yet seen me.

His first words were, "I have a problem". My response was, "What's the problem Doctor?". Dr. Barrett said, "I'm looking at the X-ray of a 25 year old man and my chart says you are 60 years old- which is it?" I told him I was 60 years old. He turned around and said, "I'm sure you don't appreciatewhat this means. I was one of three doctors that perfected orthoscopic surgery. I have taught hundreds of Doctors, viewed thousands of X-rays and have never seen anything like this. Wait here, I am going to get one of my training manuals".

Dr. Barrett returned with a large ring-bound book filled with X-rays. The manual was divided into five-year intervals from child to centenarian and into categories of light, medium and heavy bone structures. He said they represented the averages of hundreds of X-rays, in each age group, of male and female skeletal structures. He opened the manual to "Medium Frame 60 Years Old" Male and removed the X-ray and placed it next to mine. He said to me, "Do they look the same?". My response was, "NO". Next, he flipped through the manual to "Medium Frame 25 Years Old", removed the X-ray, and placed it next to mine. He said to me, "Do they look the same?". I told him they looked identical.

Dr. Barrett said, "In all my years in Medical Practice, I have never seen anything close to this". He asked "How would you explain this?". I told him I have been eating MGM Food Supplements for 35 years and that includes eating 6 Calcium and Magnesium tablets every day. Frequently, I take Calcium Complex or Vita-Cal prior to bedtime for a more relaxed sleep or to calm an acid stomach. Dr. Barrett said, "This is incredible... don't change anything
you are doing!".

There are hundreds of companies promoting Calcium Supplements, but most do not do any research on the products they market. Most of these companies do not have even one researcher to staff a laboratory they, also, do not have. The Dairy Industry promotes its products for stronger teeth and bones. Calcium is added to cereal, bread and even to orange juice. Calcium is the most abundant "mineral" in our diet, yet the United States Government continues to report that calcium is the most common deficiency in our diet. That is because all calcium is not the same. What good is the calcium if it does not do what it is supposed to do?

All of the people whose X-rays were in Dr. Barrett's Manual chose their sources for their bodies' needs. It is very obvious to me, that I have chosen an incredibly superior source for my calcium... MGM Supplement!!

MGM Supplement: Interesting Testimony About Healing A Tumor

Testimony: From Paula

I have a area on my temple at my hair line that my dermatologist has been watching for about 5 years. It's the aging and too much sun issue (I'm a child of the 50's and no sun screen) and have already had two pre-cancerous spots removed from my nose via liquid nitrogen - I think that's right). This area is raised, bumpy, non-cancerous, about the size of a nickel. Usually this type of growth is brownish in color. fortunately (vanity here) mine was only a bit darkened. Occassionally it would get dry and bleed just a tiny bit, then I'd put lotion on it. AFter I started taking NutriFeron regularly it shrunk a little. I have been using Enfuselle products for a couple years, but not the C&E Repair PM regularly. The miracle to me - once I did start using C&E Repair PM daily (I use it in the morning because I'm not always good at getting my face washed at night!) the entire growth has disappeared on my temple. The area on my scalp is even going away due to the cream "migrating" into my hair line. I began using the C&E Repair PM regularly in the spring of 2006 (during the summer I'd put the AM Repair over it for the sun screen benefit. In the winter I'm use a little Hydrating Moisturizer over it due to my dryer Minnesota skin). So there you have it!

MGM Supplement: Here is a New Years Resolution For You!

The numbers are astonishing. More than 60,000 people in the United States are over the age of 100, and there are enough people over the age of 110 for them to have their own term: supercentenariums.

What's the secret of their long lives? And, more importantly, are they exceptions to the rule? Perhaps, but maybe not. The fact is that we are living longer thanks to a combination of factors. According to the US Census, the number of people age 85 and over alone will more than double over the next 25 years. Further, it's estimated that there will be more than 800,000 people 100 and over by 2050.

While all of us hope to live into our 80s or 90s or longer, our biggest concern is having a healthy long life. Preserving and even improving your health depends in large part on the choices and habits that you develop now and continue into the future.

A study of aging funded by the MacArthur Foundation bears this out. It found that environment and lifestyle contribute far more to a healthy old age than genetics, and that the importance of healthy habits only increases as you age. Taking care of your physical well-being, challenging your mind, reaching out to others, and feeling positive about life and aging all contribute greatly to remaining active and sharp.

Physical Health

One of the most important things you can do at any age is to eat right. A healthy, balanced diet has lots of benefits, including feeling better and looking better. But what does a healthy, balanced diet mean? Doctors recommend a diet heavy on fruits and vegetables, protein, complex carbohydrates (such as whole grain foods, legumes) and healthy fats (including olive oil).

As you consider your future health, this also might be a good time to try to lose any extra weight. Shedding pounds, along with eating the foods that are good for you, can help you to stave off some of the most serious age-related health problems, including osteoporosis, hypertension, diabetes and heart disease. Middle-aged weight gain, which tends to settle around our middle, is particularly dangerous because it increases the risk of stroke and heart disease.

But there's another reason to eat right. The vitamins and minerals found in healthy foods

boost our immune system and help our bodies to function better. Many fruits and vegetables, including berries, tomatoes and broccoli, contain phytochemicals, which improve cognitive functions and prevent disease. And Vitamin C, found in citrus fruits, helps us to handle stress better in addition to helping us fight off colds.

Many of us have busy lives with little or no time for exercise. But did you know that in addition to raising your metabolism, exercise can help to extend your life and improve the quality of your life for years to come? One study found that walking one hour a day can extend your life expectancy by two years.

Strength training is particularly beneficial to us as we age. At age 40, we begin to lose muscle mass each year, slowly becoming weaker. But strength training can rebuild lost muscle mass and make bones stronger, which is particularly important for post-menopausal women. It also improves your balance, helps you to sleep better and helps your heart.

One important finding of the MacArthur Foundation aging study is that it's never too late to stop such bad habits as smoking, eating fatty foods and not exercising. Within a year of quitting smoking, most people reduce their risk of heart disease.

Staying Sharp, Staying Connected

Perhaps one of the most worrisome signs of aging is diminished memory. But, contrary to popular opinion, we continue to grow brain cells throughout our lives and adults of any age can improve their memory and increase their capacity for learning. Researchers say the mental decline many older people experience is because they aren't taxing their brains enough. The nerve cells in their brains are atrophying due to largely routine behavior.

As with your body, the more you exercise your brain, the better it will function. While taking a class and developing new interests are among the many good options for challenging your brain, another thing you can do is to learn new skills. In an age of instant messaging, camera phones and continually faster and smarter computers, keeping up with new technological advances and mastering them will help preserve your mental acuity.

Taking steps to reduce stress also will help keep your brain functioning well as stress affects our memory and ability to learn new things, in addition to reducing the flow of blood to our brains.

As you consider your future, also look for activities that give your life meaning and keep you involved in your community. Being socially connected is important to our mental health and overall sense of well-being. Consider volunteering with a civic organization or your church. Further, stay in close contact with friends and family and start expanding your social network now.

MGM Supplement: How Can Your Eating Habits Effect Your Sleeping Habits?

Do you have so much to do during the day you literally forget to eat - but then find yourself making up for it before bedtime? If so, the types of foods you choose could make a big difference in the quality of your sleep.
First, let's look at the foods that are most likely to keep you tossing and turning.

Caffeine. Now, you don't need a doctor to tell you that caffeine will keep you awake, but it can lurk in unexpected places. Chocolate not only contains caffeine but also alkaloids which have a stimulating effect.
Alcohol helps many of us feel calm and relaxed - especially that half glass of wine after a long, hard day. While this may help you fall asleep initially, it greatly diminishes the quality of sleep by disturbing neurotransmitter production, including serotonin. Alcohol is also a diuretic and may keep you running to the bathroom all night.
Fatty foods take longer to work their way through your system, and the process of digestion can keep you awake. Fatty foods can also exacerbate heartburn.
Spicy foods make heartburn worse as well.
Artificial sweeteners like aspartame contain phenylalanine and aspartic acid, both of which are excitatory.
So what can you raid the refrigerator for to limit the sheep count? It has a lot to do with serotonin.

Milk (warm or not) contains tryptophan, a precursor to serotonin. It's tryptophan in turkey that makes us so sleepy after that Thanksgiving dinner. Cheese, chicken, soy, yogurt, nuts and seeds also have tryptophan. Eat these (and all foods) at least 45 minutes prior to your planned bedtime.
Complex carbohydrates like beans, nuts, seeds, sweet potatoes, apples, pears, and berries can also help increase serotonin levels. Watch out for simple carbs like rice, pasta, and white bread. The impact these have on blood sugar can disturb the sleep cycle.
Vitamins B6 and B12 are necessary for your body to generate serotonin. B6 can be found in turkey, chicken, spinach, whole grains and seafood and B12 in animal-derived products like eggs and dairy foods.
Magnesium-rich foods like leafy green vegetables, whole grains, and almonds can also facilitate sleep.

MGM Supplement: Danger Signs of Child Obesity

Obesity begins at home.

That's the conclusion of nutrition experts who are sorting through a parade of studies released this summer that shows children in all age groups in the USA are gaining too much weight even babies. And those experts are laying the lion's share of the responsibility on parents, many of whom also are heavy.

Tara Todd, a registered dietitian at St. Louis Children's Hospital, says most of her young patients have overweight mothers or fathers.

She is working with 10-year-old twin boys; they each weigh 200 pounds. Todd has tried to get them to stop drinking five 16-ounce glasses of Kool-Aid a day, and they refuse. Their mother, who also is too heavy, has begun making changes at home, but the boys won't do anything on their own.

"Kids are learning these unhealthy behaviors from an early age," Todd says. "I try to focus on the parents and get them to change what they are stocking in the pantry."

Keith Ayoob, a registered dietitian at the Albert Einstein College of Medicine in New York, says he never meets children who have better eating habits than their parents. "Parents are, hands down, the biggest influence on their kids. They need to be good role models. I heard a quote that said, 'What you say will speak to your kids. What you do will scream to them.' "

Moms and dads may want their kids to eat more fruits and vegetables, but they aren't eating enough themselves, he says.

Government data show two-thirds of U.S. adults are overweight or obese. One-third of children and teens ” about 25 million kids ” are overweight or on the brink of becoming so. All are at an increased risk of developing diabetes, high cholesterol and other health problems.

The prestigious Institute of Medicine is releasing a report today that evaluates the attempts being made to address what government and private experts consider a national health crisis. The food industry has come under fire for aggressively marketing high-fat, high-sugar products to kids, and schools have been criticized for selling them.

"Everyone needs to be aware that the deck is stacked against children for having a healthy weight," says Elizabeth Ward, a registered dietitian in Boston and mother of three school-age daughters. "Our society is set up to have our kids grow up overweight, which is why we need to be vigilant. The figures keep coming out, pummeling us with the fact that our kids weigh too much.

"All of us need to do something about it. When it comes to this issue, we cannot put a Band-Aid on it anymore."

The parent trap

Children say they depend on their parents for the ABCs of good health: 71% say they get information about how to be healthy from their mothers, according to a survey of 1,487 children, ages 8 to 18, conducted for the America on the Move Foundation. And Dad is the resource for 43% of the children.

But some families don't seem to know how to plan and make healthful meals, Ayoob says. "This is a generation of young parents who may have grown up on a lot of high-calorie take-out food, processed snacks and few fruits and vegetables. If they grew up that way, those are the eating habits they're going to teach their kids."

Busy parents often don't make the time to feed their children healthful foods, Ayoob says, recalling a mother who brought her preschooler in for a consultation and the boy was carrying his breakfast: a bag of Cheez Doodles and a sugary soda. The mother explained that she was running late and they didn't have time for a meal.

"We need to rearrange priorities. You can't have 'no time to feed the kids,' " Ayoob says.

The sentiment is shared by other nutritionists who encourage meal planning and limits on junk food, fast food and TV viewing.

"My philosophy is that encouraging healthy weight in kids is a family affair," Ward says. "The home environment has a tremendous influence on a child's food choices, including what he eats when away from home."

Some parents have retrained themselves and their families. About two years ago, Myrna Lisboa of Orlando noticed 5-year-old Mia was a little too chubby and considered "overweight" on growth charts. Lisboa and her husband struggle with their weight, and her husband and many of his relatives have type 2 diabetes. She didn't want her daughter to end up with the same problems.

So she attended a pilot program called Weight Watchers Family to reshape their eating habits. She stopped buying soda, ice cream and cookies and stocked up on produce. She began making more healthful recipes for dinner and insisted that her three children and her niece and nephew, who live with her, go out to play after school.

Lisboa runs her own cleaning business but cooks a healthful meal most evenings and a hot breakfast every morning with foods such as oatmeal and scrambled eggs. If her family wants a treat such as ice cream, they go out for it.

Mia's weight seems to be leveling off, but Lisboa knows the fight's not over. Her children are exposed to fattening foods wherever they go: at school, birthday parties, the mall. At least at home, she says, "I'm doing my best."

What's to be done?

Todd, who works with overweight kids in St. Louis, says her first "point of attack is beverages ” always, always, always. They typically don't drink enough milk, and their diets are low in calcium."

Most are drinking a lot of soda and other sugary drinks. "I calculate the calories they get from drinks, and it's often 500 calories or more a day. Just by cutting those out, they can lose a pound a week."

Other problems: too much "grazing," too many packaged foods and fast foods, not enough fruits and vegetables, few structured meals. And some children weren't switched from whole milk to skim milk at age 2. "These may seem like small things, but they have a large impact."

Some have mothers and fathers who don't want to say "no" to them when it comes to food or TV and computer time, she says. "I worked with an overweight boy whose parents estimated he watched 10 hours of TV a day."

Ward, author of The Complete Idiot's Guide to Feeding Your Baby and Toddler, says parents have to say no more often to high-fat, low-nutrient foods. At one point, she found that her youngest daughter, then 5, was looking forward to going to the library because there was a vending machine in the basement. Ward told her daughter the vending machine was off limits.

"I have to say no all the time," she says. "As a parent, I'm the gatekeeper. The buck stops here."

Karen Miller-Kovach, chief scientific officer for Weight Watchers, believes parents give their children mixed messages about food. "They say no to everything for a day or two, and then they say no to nothing. It's better to make smaller changes and make them consistently than to change a lot of things at once and be inconsistent."

Many factors are contributing to obesity, and some children are more vulnerable than others. "It's not at all unusual to have lean and overweight kids in the same household," she says.

The good thing about making healthful changes at home is that it can help the children who have a weight problem and it doesn't hurt the others, she says. "If you have healthy food in the house, the thin child won't melt away. They'll eat more, and they'll improve their nutritional intake."

To make better meals, parents will have to plan ahead and go to the grocery store regularly to buy healthful ingredients. "When you don't plan, you'll fail," Ward says.

She knows it isn't easy. "I'm in no way minimizing how difficult it is to take the time to make meals and plan snacks. But it's worth it."

And there are plenty of good shortcuts: packaged salads, cut-up vegetables and fruit, roasted chicken, ready-to-eat fish and meat.

"Making an effort to help your child eat right is an investment in their health, now and decades down the road," Ward says.

Pediatrician Marc Jacobson, a member of the American Academy of Pediatrics' task force on obesity, believes the trend in overweight children can and will be reversed. "It's on the front of everybody's radar screen. There is a huge outpouring of commitment from schools, government, public health agencies, private industry, medical groups and parents.

"It's something we've caused," Jacobson says. "And I don't see any reason why we can't make the changes needed to reverse it."

MGM Supplement: Think better with Zinc, says new study!

Children taking zinc supplements five days a week displayed better mental performance after three months than did their classmates, said researchers in a presentation at last month's Experimental Biology meeting in San Diego. Those who took an extra 20 mg of zinc responded more quickly and accurately when performing memory tasks, and had more sustained attention.

These beneficial effects were seen regardless of the children's zinc status prior to supplementation, said Dr. James Penland, who led a team of researchers from the U.S. Agricultural Research Service's Grand Forks Human Nutrition Research Center in North Dakota.

In the study, 111 girls and 98 boys, age 11, consumed 4 oz. of fruit juice containing either 0, 10, or 20 mg of zinc gluconate each school day for up to 12 weeks. Neither the students nor their parents and teachers knew who was receiving supplemental zinc; all took a battery of tests designed to measure mental and motor skills at the beginning and end of the study.

Compared to those who received no supplemental zinc, students who consumed an additional 20 mg daily decreased reaction time on a visual memory task by 12 percent vs. 6 percent; increased correct answers on a word recognition task by 9 percent vs. 3 percent; and increased scores on a task requiring sustained attention and vigilance by 6 percent vs. 1 percent. Those who received only the U.S. Recommended Dietary Allowances for this age group --10 mg -- did not show significantly improved performance.

MGM Supplement: Tips on Quiting Smoking

Testimony

What I learned, and it has proven true ever since for me, is that when I am not getting the amounts of vitamin C that my body needs, I crave cigarettes. When I am getting enough, I can't stand to smoke, much less crave them!

I have read in various sources over the years that maintaining a high alkaline diet also helps people quit smoking. It is basically a diet that focuses primarily on fruits and vegetables, and avoids red meat, to put it in very simple terms. Detailed food lists, available on Dr. Lark's website (do a Google to find it), are available, a fruit and vegetable and seafood diet, with MGM Supplement soy protein, is the simple rule of thumb to follow to maintain an alkaline body. Studies have shown that people addicted to cigarettes are often depressed, for they have an anti-depressant effect. So if a person is trying to break the habit, they might be more successful if they use the Shaklee anti-depressant products: soy protein, Vita Lea, lots of B complex, EPA, Moodlift, lecithin, Stress Relief Complex, Herblax, DTX and Unflavored Fiber Plan (cleansing and rebuilding the liver ismandatory with depression problems, according to Chinese medicine).

If one must smoke, make sure you are using the organic cigarettes available now through American Spirit, or at least some of the 'natural' varieties available at smoke shops. Just like with our food supply today, the chemicals added to mainstream cigarettes are as toxic or more so than the tobacco itself!

As for those studies that showed beta carotene was dangerous for smokers: I am sure others on this list over the years have explained why those studies were not valid, but let me add that Barry Sears, PhD, who wrote The Zone Diet books, and who holds something like 26 patents for delivery of drugs to the human body, since that was his career before he developed the Zone Diet to save his OWN life, says that the carotenes need to be taken with vitamin C and E and then they are protective for smokers. He explains why in one of his books, I forget which one. But a good basic MGM Supplement program supports his research in this area!

I have had friends over the years who found that when they got in shape with aerobics, they could quit smoking easily. In both instances, they used swimming as their form of exercise, which really develops the lungs!

When you realize that smoking involves 'deep breathing' in some sense of that phrase, practicing deep breathing exercises several times a day, as well as doing aerobics that force heavy breathing regularly, will help give the body the oxygen it is used to getting from all that 'inhaling.'

I often have wondered if people smoke in part because it is the only way their body can get them to BREATHE! Think about it! Lots of air with smoke in it may be better than very little air with no smoke. Perhaps a lot of the smoking addiction is about a pure air deficiency, so BREATHE! Singing, especially singing lessons that teach breathing, can also be helpful for smokers who want to quit, regardless of singing ability!

MGM Supplement: Have a Healthy Pregnancy With Shaklee

I began trusting and using Shaklee products first with my children, one who has asthma and allergies, and the other is suspected ADHD and had severe eczema. Thats 2 other long successful stories in themselves. At any rate, I saw and experienced the way 2 little bodies were able to heal and restore health naturally. After beginning my third pregnancy, I quickly realized that I was back in the same boat as the first two, with nausea, fatigue, constipation, and water retention, and my allergies were out of control- I relied on Claritin daily. After pitching the Dr's prescribed prenatal vitamins and starting vitalea (3 a day), b-complex (2-6 daily), mealshake (didn't like the soy at first), cal-mag, alfalfa (20 per day), and the antioxidants, my energy level and pregnancy took a turn for the better. This pregnancy was fantastic from that point forward. It was the first time I did not test positive for gestational diabetes, my blood pressure remained normal throughout, and my naps were no longer a necessity. Also I gained 10 pounds less than I had with either of the first two, and my 3rd baby was a full pound heavier at delivery.

He has by far been the healthiest infant, and nursing has been easy and fun-still. Synthetic "prenatals" cram all the nutrients into 1 tablet that doesn't even breakdown most of the time. If we choose to have another baby it will be Shakleeized from the womb, I wish I knew about these incredible products sooner. The new starter packages will be great to offer expecting moms a prenatal supplement pack, with all the folic acid they need. We need to get them into the OB offices, so people know there are alternatives.

Best of luck, Nancy Mellott

The following is the direct statement from Shaklee regarding Pre-natal nutrition.

All the nutrients needed to meet the U.S. RDA for pregnant and lactating women are available in existing Shaklee supplements. With the approval of the obstetrician, Vita-Lea, Iron Plus C, B-Complex, and Calcium Complex can offer an excellent prenatal supplement program for pregnant women. Moreover, Meal Shakes and Carbo-Crunch Bars could be added as convenient snacks (not meal replacements) to make sure the extra calories needed during pregnancy are packed with good health and nutrition.

We suggest a basic plan that includes 2 Vita-Lea tablets, 1 Calcium supplement, 1 Iron Plus C, 1 B-Complex, and of course, a balanced diet to help support a healthy pregnancy. While the herbal products, Optiflora, Garlic, Peppermint-Ginger Plus, Echinacea Complex should be fine for women to take during pregnancy. Our Health Sciences personnel recommend these products be taken with the approval of the attending physician. In the case of Herb-Lax, and Moodlift, again we recommend expectant mothers seek the advice of a obstetrician also, before using these products.

MGM Supplement: OVERCOMING HOLIDAY SOCIAL EATING SABOTAGE

'Tis the season for social eating. All that food and fun can sabotage your best intentions. Want to enjoy the holidays but still stay on track? The good news is you can, and all it takes is a little preplanning. In fact, planning ahead is probably the most important strategy you can use to successfully deal with any social eating activity. Here are some easy-to-do suggestions for making the holidays a cinch to get through:

• SET A REALISTIC GOAL— Trying to lose weight during the holidays may be a self defeating goal. Maintaining your weight over the next few weeks is a good expectation to set.
• PLAN AHEAD TO PLAN AHEAD— Look ahead now at your calendar, set sometime aside to plan before you find yourself dressed up and walkingout the door to your next social event.
• DON'T GO TO A PARTY HUNGRY— If you arrive there too hungry, you won't be able to resist temptation. Eat a small healthy snack, Cinch Bar or drink your Cinch Shake before you go.

• ENJOY THE COMPANY— Spend time greeting your friends or relatives before heading for the food table or grabbing a drink.

• FILL UP ON FRESH VEGGIES— When you do hit the buffet, pile up the vegetables on your plate. A dab of dip is okay, too.

• BRING A DISH— If you've been invited to a dinner party, offer to bring a dish. Modify your favorite family recipe with a healthier option (see Cinchify Your Holiday Eating for some delicious
suggestions).

• EYEBALL YOUR PORTIONS - Dining out? Share an entrée with your dining companion, order a la carte, or set aside part of your meal to take home and enjoy the next day. Also, remember to eat slowly and focus on having a good conversation.

• ARE YOU REALLY HUNGRY? - Pay attention to your signs of true hunger and satiety. Eat when you feel the first signs of hunger, stop when you feel comfortable.

• DON'T DRINK AWAY YOUR SUCCESS - The average alcoholic drink or festival beverage, like eggnog or punch, contains 150-200 calories per glass. Lighten up with a wine spritzer or a glass of sparkling water with a wedge of lime. You'll look like you're indulging, and you'll stay more clear-headed and slimmer.

• KEEP MOVING— Don't let your busy schedule or the winter weather prevent you from exercising. Schedule your workouts and consider them just as important as any other appointment or event. If you don't have time before a big party, wear your dancing shoes and boogie the night away!

MGM Supplement: Take Care of Acne Now!

PROBLEM:
Nearly 100% of all adolescents experience some form of acne during the teenage years, and it’s estimated that as many as half of all adults ages 20-40 suffer from this persistent condition. Acne is a dermatological condition that has its roots in genetics, but is also dependent upon a complex interplay of other factors. In brief, the cycle of acne starts when excess oil and dead skin cells clog hair follicle(pores). This creates an environment in which bacteria such as P. acnes(Propionibacterium acnes) and free radicals degrade sebum and aggravate skin tissues, leading to the blemishes, redness and irritation associated with acne. Many over-the-counter acne products attack acne blemishes with harsh active ingredients such as benzoyl peroxide which can excessively irritate sensitive and adult skin. Eighty percent of all women are unhappy with the acne treatment they use and are searching for a solution.

SOLUTION :
This clinically proven formula provides maximum strength effectiveness in fighting acne in a gentle formula that isn’t over-drying. What’s more, the botanicals and antioxidants in Acne Clarifying Complex work both individually and together to help prevent the development of new acne blemishes.

Most people who try to lose weight just by cutting back on their calories don’t stick with the program for long. In addition, metabolic imbalances caused by age, diet, reduced physical activity, and possibly exposure to toxins and chemicals in food, water, and air can lead to an inability to "switch off" your appetite, and to food cravings that trigger between-meal snacking.
