Fuel Up Before You Move: The Power of Pre-Workout with Shaklee

If you’ve ever hit the gym or laced up your shoes feeling a little sluggish, you’re not alone. Some days, even the best intentions need a little boost. That’s where a quality pre-workout supplement can make a real difference. Specifically, Shaklee’s Performance® Pre‑Workout Energy Drink offers a clean, effective way to fire up your body and mind before exercise—without the crash, jitters, or guesswork found in many energy products.

Why Take a Pre-Workout?

Whether you’re lifting weights, running sprints, or tackling a long hike, your performance depends on energy, endurance, and focus. A pre-workout supplement is designed to prime your body to perform at its best—helping you train harder, last longer, and stay mentally locked in.

But not all pre-workouts are created equal. Many are loaded with sugar, artificial stimulants, and mystery “proprietary blends.” Shaklee’s Pre‑Workout Drink is different. It gives you exactly what you need—and nothing you don’t.

What’s Inside Shaklee’s Pre-Workout Formula?

This thoughtfully crafted blend includes:

  • 100 mg of natural caffeine from green tea: About the same as a cup of coffee, but sourced naturally to provide a steady, jitter-free boost of energy.

  • 800 mg Beta-Alanine: This powerhouse amino acid helps buffer acid in your muscles so you can delay fatigue and push through tough sets or long sessions.

  • 100 mg L-Theanine: Found in green tea, L-theanine promotes calm focus and helps smooth out the effects of caffeine—perfect for clear thinking during your workout.

And unlike many other pre-workout supplements, Shaklee’s formula is gluten-free, dairy-free, soy-free, and contains no artificial colors, flavors, sweeteners, or preservatives.

How It Helps You Perform

1. Smooth, Lasting Energy
No spikes. No crashes. Just consistent, clean energy to help you get through every rep, lap, or mile.

2. Mental Focus & Clarity
Stay dialed in. Whether you’re going for a personal best or just trying to keep good form, the L-theanine in this formula sharpens your concentration so you can stay present and intentional.

3. Delayed Muscle Fatigue
Thanks to beta-alanine, your muscles stay fresher longer. That means more reps, stronger finishes, and better results over time.

4. Better Workouts, Period
When you feel more energized and less fatigued, workouts just feel better. You might even start looking forward to them.

How to Use It

Using Shaklee Performance® Pre-Workout is simple:

  • Mix one stick with 8 oz. of water.

  • Drink about 30 minutes before your workout.

  • Limit to no more than 300 mg of caffeine per day (that’s three servings max).

  • For best results, pair with a solid routine of hydration, nutrition, and rest.

Some users may experience a tingling sensation from the beta-alanine—this is normal and harmless. It’s a sign that it’s working!

Why I Recommend It

I love that this pre-workout doesn't try to "trick" your body with crazy amounts of caffeine or unknown ingredients. It’s clean, simple, and effective. Shaklee’s focus on science-backed, naturally sourced ingredients means you’re fueling your workout with something you can feel good about. Whether you’re chasing goals in the gym or just trying to get more from your walks, this can be a game-changer.

Ready to Level Up Your Workout?

If you're serious about making progress—whether it's building strength, improving stamina, or just staying consistent—then starting with the right fuel matters. Shaklee’s Performance® Pre-Workout Energy Drink helps unlock the energy, endurance, and focus you need to show up at your best.

You’re Not Getting Old—You’re Getting Stronger: How Diet, Exercise, and Mindset Can Rewrite the Aging Story

Most people think aging is inevitable. Wrinkles, fatigue, stiffness, forgetfulness… they treat them like a checklist that comes with the candles on the birthday cake.

But what if getting older didn’t have to mean getting old?

More and more research—and real-life examples—show that how we age has less to do with our birthdate and more to do with our mindset, movement, and nourishment. You have the power to slow down the aging process. In many cases, you can even reverse some of its effects.

Let’s talk about the three pillars that make the difference.

1. Mindset: Age Is an Attitude

Aging starts in the mind long before it shows up in the mirror. If you think you're getting old, you start acting like it. You stop moving, you say no to new experiences, you give up the idea of growing stronger or learning new things.

But if you shift your mindset, everything changes.

The people who live the longest and feel the youngest are often those who stay curious, stay active, and expect their best years to still be ahead of them. It’s not delusion—it’s direction. And it matters.

Reframe aging as an opportunity to feel better, move better, and become more confident in your body than ever before.

2. Exercise: Movement Is Medicine

Regular physical activity doesn’t just help you look good. It’s one of the most powerful anti-aging tools we have:

  • Boosts circulation and heart health

  • Supports joint flexibility and strength

  • Increases mood and mental clarity

  • Improves sleep and hormone balance

  • Enhances your body's ability to recover and handle stress

And it doesn’t have to be intense. Walking, strength training, yoga, pickleball—what matters is that you move consistently and intentionally.

When you move your body daily, you send a message to your brain and your cells: We’re not done yet.

3. Diet and Supplements: Fuel Your Longevity

You can’t out-exercise a poor diet. What you put into your body affects your energy, focus, strength, and recovery—every single day.

A diet rich in whole foods, lean proteins, healthy fats, and vegetables can keep your system running clean and sharp. But even the healthiest eaters often fall short on essential nutrients.

That’s where smart supplementation comes in.

Adding the right vitamins, minerals, and high-quality protein can help:

  • Support immune function

  • Improve muscle recovery

  • Reduce inflammation

  • Strengthen bones and joints

  • Help your body manage stress more efficiently

One easy step you can take today is to prioritize your daily protein and vitamin intake. Your body needs more of both as you age—and meeting those needs can make a huge difference in how you feel.

You Can’t Stop Time—But You Can Slow It Down

Aging is inevitable. But feeling old is optional.

By shifting your mindset, moving your body, and fueling yourself with the right nutrition and supplements, you can feel better at 50 than you did at 30. Or 70 than you did at 50.

So if you’re ready to feel younger, stronger, and more energized...

Why Protein Matters: How Much You Need and Why It’s So Important for Your Health

Protein is often called the building block of life—and for good reason. Every cell in your body contains it. Whether you’re working to maintain a healthy weight, build lean muscle, recover from exercise, or simply support your overall wellness, protein plays a key role. Yet, many people don’t get enough of it in their daily diet. In this post, we’ll break down why protein is essential, how it benefits your body, and how much you really need to stay healthy.

Why Your Body Needs Protein
Protein is made up of amino acids, which are the building blocks for nearly every tissue in the body. Here’s how adequate protein intake supports your health:

  • Muscle Repair & Growth: Whether you're lifting weights or chasing kids around the house, your muscles rely on protein to repair and grow stronger.

  • Weight Management: Protein helps you feel full longer, which can reduce cravings and support healthy eating habits.

  • Immune Function: Certain proteins help form antibodies and immune cells that fight off illness.

  • Hormone & Enzyme Production: Many hormones and enzymes that regulate bodily functions are made from protein.

  • Healthy Hair, Skin & Nails: These tissues are largely made of structural proteins like keratin and collagen.

How Much Protein Do You Need?
The amount of protein you need depends on several factors, including your age, gender, activity level, and health goals.

  • General Recommendation:
The Recommended Dietary Allowance (RDA) is 0.8 grams of protein per kilogram of body weight per day. For a 150-pound person, that’s about 55 grams per day. But that’s just the minimum to prevent deficiency.

  • For Active Individuals & Athletes:
If you exercise regularly or are trying to build muscle, you may need closer to 1.2 to 2.0 grams per kilogram of body weight. That’s 82 to 136 grams per day for a 150-pound person.

  • For Weight Loss or Healthy Aging:
Higher protein intake can help preserve muscle mass and boost metabolism. In these cases, 1.2–1.6 grams per kilogram is often recommended.

Best Sources of Protein
You can get protein from a wide range of foods—both animal- and plant-based. Here are some great options:

  • Animal-Based: Chicken, fish, lean beef, eggs, Greek yogurt, cottage cheese, whey protein

  • Plant-Based: Lentils, quinoa, chickpeas, black beans, tofu, tempeh, edamame, nuts & seeds

If you're not able to meet your protein needs through food alone, high-quality protein supplements can help fill the gap.

Final Thoughts
Getting enough protein isn’t just for bodybuilders—it’s for everyone. It supports muscle health, keeps your metabolism active, boosts immunity, and helps you feel your best. Whether your goal is to build strength, lose weight, age well, or simply eat a more balanced diet, protein deserves a central spot on your plate.

Why Supplement

I just came across some alarming facts from the American Heart Association and the American Cancer Society that may interest you.
Did you know that approximately one out of every two adults will be diagnosed with cancer sometime during their life, and that simple lifestyle choices--such as proper diet and exercise--can help prevent 60?90% of many major diseases, including cancer, heart disease, and type 2 diabetes?
If you're at all concerned about your health or the health of someone you love, I strongly encourage you to read Why the Proven Benefits of Nutritional Supplementation Are So Important Today. This is one of the most helpful and eye-opening brochures I've read. I'm sure you'll feel the same.

Cholesterol Reduction Complex

Barb Hill Behar Testimonial
Cholesterol Reduction Complex

October, 2010

Our family has a history of high cholesterol and I have been battling high LDL levels for quite a few
years.

My  HDL has pretty consistently been in a good range,  but  I was very excited to begin using the
Cholesterol Reduction Complex by Shaklee so see if it would reduce my LDL.

I started taking it in August right after the product was launched.  You need to take 2 tablets 15-30
minutes before two of your meals.  Sometimes that was a little tricky to remember, so I set my cell
phone alarm !I have consistently taken it now for 2 months.

I had my cholesterol checked shortly before I started taking the Cholesterol Reduction Complex.
I had it checked again this week and got the results yesterday.

I am pleased to report my LDL has already dropped from 180-150, almost 20% in just 2 months!!
I told my doctor what I was doing and she told that is takes a while for LDL to drop so advised me to
be patient as it continues to drop!  I am confident it will soon be in the normal range.

April 2011

I had another LIPID panel on April 2.  I was thrilled to see the continuing positive results.  It has now
been 7 months since I started taking CRC.  I take 2 tablets before 2 meals per day between 85 and
90 % of the time.  I still have my cell phone alarm set so I don't forget!

My LDL has dropped to 117.  That is a over a 35% drop.  My HDL has increased to 60.  My overall
cholesterol is lower than it has been in the past 20 years!

Colitis and Diverticulitis

The Grace of Vivix according to Louis:

February of 2008 I was diagnosed with Colitis and Diverticulites, but tests also showed a possibility of Chrons.  I was on various medications throughout 2008 and 2009 with nothing really helping.  Then one day in late January of 2010 Amber called and talked to me about Vivix and offered to send more information along with testimonials.  After reading the material I ordered Vivix and after a month thought it wasn't going to help me but I remembered Amber saying to try it at least for two months.

I started taking Vivix in February and after two months I could see improvement and by three months I was symptom free and still am nearly a year later.  Before taking Vivix I had diarrhea, bloody stools, and mucus discharge to the point I didn't leave the house but for a short time.  I was basically living on toast and yogurt and drinking only water.  I had no energy.  Now I watch my diet but I can eat most things and I still drink mostly water but occasionsally have tea or a soda.  I am now able to do my regular activities, and am so thankfull!

Reduce Risk of Macular Degeneration

Most supplement companies are reluctant to abandon a well-established brand - even when they have something better to sell. On a recent visit to our optometrist he alerted us to a perfect example of that in the area of eye health.  But, first a bit of background.

Many of you have probably heard of AREDS (Age Related Eye Disease Study) conducted by the National Eye Institute. That study showed that high doses of the antioxidants vitamin C, beta-carotene, vitamin E and the mineral zinc significantly decreased the risk of macular degeneration in high risk patients.

Very shortly after the study was completed several companies started marketing vitamin supplements based on the amounts of those nutrients used in the AREDS study.  However, by the time that study was published there were already several other published studies showing that lutein and zeaxanthin were a better choice than beta-carotene and that omega-3 fatty acids also significantly reduced the risk of macular degeneration. In addition, many experts felt that the amount of zinc used in the original AREDS formulation was too high.

So the National Eye Institute immediately started an AREDS 2 study with the revised formulation and most of the manufacturers of AREDS supplements started marketing AREDS 2 supplements. Our optometrist told us people interested in reducing the risk of macular degeneration really should be using the AREDS 2 supplements rather than the AREDS formulations offered by the same companies.  Since he knew that we used Shaklee products he also asked us whether it was possible to get those nutrients in the right amount from Shaklee supplements.

So we did some label reading. Vitalizer, 1 Vita E Complex, 2 CarotoMax, 2 OmegaGuard and 1 Zinc Complex come very close to the AREDS 2 formulation.

So the bottom line is:

If you are interested in reducing the risk of macular degeneration look for an AREDS 2 formulation and Shaklee can fit the bill.
