Do You Need Herblax? You be the Judge

It has been known by the natural healing profession for many years, and is recently being validated by the medical physicians, that well over 90% of degenerative disease conditions can be related directly to intestinal stasis — that is, a stagnant, fermenting condition within the bowels and related organs. This does not necessarily correspond to actual known constipation. A person can move his bowels many times a day, and still be encumbered with dead cells, decaying food materials, poisonous chemicals, parasites, pus, mucus, etc., all of which contribute to the circulation of toxins throughout the whole body, giving rise to an endless chain of “disease” conditions.

These facts should be taken into consideration when nutrition programs and vitamin therapy are introduced for the first time. The proper body’s response to a proper nutrition program is to start releasing stored toxins from the cells and this puts more stress on organs of elimination (colon, kidneys, lungs, liver, blood, and skin) which are already malfunctioning from past intake of drugs, additives, and refined, processed and overcooked foods. The result of this could be symptoms of nausea, weakness, headaches, rashes, and tiredness. To prevent this from happening, Dr. Shaklee has made HERB-LAX, a combination of nine different herbs that help detoxify the body through better, more complete, elimination.

It is important to understand that herbs are not in any way related to the artificial colon—cleansers promoted by television. Herbs do not act like ordinary laxatives that irritate the tissues and force the bowel to eject its contents. This weakens the organs and causes dependencies. But herbs, being a food, nourish the bowel and related organs to strengthen them so that they will function entirely on their own, effectively eliminating waste materials.

It is hard to say how many HERB-LAX an individual should use, since each person differs. Choose the dose that gives you two to three soft, easy bowel movements daily. This can range from one half to 30 per day ( in the case of Diverticulitis).

Those who are faithful in using HERB-LAX for internal cleanliness will get surprising good side effects as days, weeks and months go by. These include a better complexion, no headaches, no bad breath, little odor during bowel movements, plus more energy and clearer thinking.

Herb Lax®

One cannot study the Shaklee product Herb-Lax® without gaining a profound respect for our founder Forrest C. Shaklee, Sr.

What an amazing mind he had to conceive such a product at the time he did.    Remember, interest in herbal medicines had waned considerably during the middle of the last century.  Herb-Lax was the second product he developed, and it has truly withstood the "test of time" remaining one of Shaklee's favorite products. Dr. Shaklee knew that proper elimination of waste from the bowel is one of the keys to optimal health.

It is said that 90% of degenerative diseases are related to, or worsened by, the food we eat passing too slowly through our intestinal system. The fact that Herb-Lax® contains Senna leaf powder and is therefore a laxative is a no-brainer.  Practically everyone in the medical or herbal community would understand that.  What Dr.  Shaklee did to make his signature product unique was to blend an additional eight herbs with the Senna leaf powder to enhance its intended use  - that being to speed up the movement of foodstuffs through the intestinal system.  He was able to accomplish this without the usual unwanted side effects of taking a laxative.  Another great consideration about this product is that the label states a serving size of four tablets.  That would indeed cause a gentle bowel movement within several hours. I think it is interesting to note that by taking less than the serving size, one can effectively speed up the flow of food and waste through the intestinal tract without causing diarrhea.

Why does it work the way it does?  Certainly, several of the herbs contained in this product produce a laxative action.  In addition to the aforementioned Senna leaf powder, buckthorn bark powder, licorice root, blue malva powder, and culver root have shown some laxative action.

They do, however, along with the other herbs present, fulfill other functions within the GI tract to complete the action. For example, licorice root, alfalfa, fennel seed and anise seed aid in digestion.  Licorice root also reduces the production of stomach acid (good for heartburn?); and relieves gas, as does anise seed.  Anise seed also acts to relieve stomach cramps.  Rhubarb is unusual in that in can cause a laxative effect, and it has the opposite effect in small doses!

******************************************************************

I agree with what you are saying about Dr. Shaklee and Herb Lax. (Dr. Shaklee's basic 5 were:

Vita-Lea; Protein; Vita C; Alfalfa; and HerbLax.)

My elderly 89 year old father takes HerbLax daily and has for years and
years -- I have been in Shaklee since 1978—recently he had a colonoscopy (just
because they thought he should since he had not had one for years)  I guess
they thought he should have something wrong at his age, right
.

During the procedure the doctor asked my dad--"Do you take Shaklee HerbLax?"
"My dad said Yes, I do every day" (think he takes 2 or 4). Doctor said
I thought so because the colon is a darker color. I have several other
people with colons like yours and they all take Shaklee.  Dad is getting
worried, "Is it bad?"  "No," he said, "I wish all my patients had colons
like yours--your colon is that of a 20 year old person, that is good, it
couldn't be better."

So I guess this is living proof that Dr. Shaklee was right and knew what he
was talking about.      Sharon Rowe

Are You Rich?

ARE YOU RICH?

How much money do you need to feel rich?  Wealth is a subjective concept, but one thing is universal in most definitions: being able to live a comfortable life without having to work.

"I'd like to have enough money so my family and I wouldn't have to work anymore or worry about the necessities, and maybe travel a bit," said Deborah, a Southern California resident visiting New York City.  She said she'd need about $10 million to consider herself set.  One woman from Seattle put it at a "couple thousand dollars a month." Another from New York City wanted a billion (although she'd still fly coach.)

Experts peg the figure to be somewhere around $2 million to $12 million in savings. On the high end of that range, a single person living in an expensive part of the country (say, New York City), wanting to retire at 35 would need at least $300,000 a year to feel rich, according to Steven Kaye, president of Watchung, N.J.-based wealth management firm American Economic Planning Group. He based that number on real-life figures his clients tell him they need.  A yearly income of $300,000 would allow for taxes, a $3,800-a-month apartment (the average price in Manhattan), and a monthly spending allowance of around twelve grand, he said. Not too bad, especially since you could do this all without a pesky job.  Maybe some of us shouldn’t consider moving to Manhattan!  To generate $300,000 a year beginning at age 35, you'd need a nest egg of just under $12 million. That assumes a conservative investment portfolio generating a return of 5% a year, an inflation rate of 2.5% a year and Social Security benefits of $25,000 a year starting at age 62.  Over time, the shape of your nest egg would resemble a bell curve, growing in the early years, and then declining as inflation required you to withdraw more money to maintain a lifestyle equivalent to $300,000 in 2010. The $12 million would finally dwindle to $934 when you turned 100.

If you live in a low cost part of the country, $100,000 a year should be enough, said Kaye. In that case, you would need savings of about $4 million to retire at 35.  But, who retires at 35?  If you're willing to stay in the workforce until age 65, a mere $2 million would be enough!  TWO MILLION DOLLARS!  Jon Duncan, a financial planner at Tacoma, Wash.-based Seneschal Advisors, gave numbers similar to Kaye's, and agreed that for most people, the figure would be somewhere in the multi-millions.

"I'm from an era when we'd talk about millionaires and say 'Whoa, he's got it made for life,'" said Duncan. "But that's not the case anymore."  Indeed, few experts think a million is enough to quit your day job.  "Don't retire at 35," he advised this reporter, "you'll need a ton of money."

Of course, there are other ways of determining wealth besides just what you'll need to live well in retirement. Although decidedly not recommended by financial planners, one is relativity. Basically, you're rich if you're making more than your brother-in-law.  That appears to be how the government measures affluence. The government wants to extend tax cuts for all but the wealthiest Americans, which it defines to be those families making more than $250,000. But that only includes about 2% of the population, according to the Census Bureau.  Did you read that?  ONLY 2% OF THE POPULATION EARNS MORE THAN $250,000 PER YEAR!  Kaye cautions not to confuse wealth with income. Some people can make a million a year, but be spending a million and a half. They are not rich, said Kaye.  "Income relates to lifestyle," he said. "Wealth relates to balance sheets."

There seems to be a problem here.  Financial advisors seem to agree that it will take $2 million to retire at age 65 with an income of $100,000 per year, yet only 2% of the population earns more than $250,000 per year.  How is one to save up the $2 million?  One answer might be a Shaklee business where residual income will add thousands of dollars to your income long after you have “retired”.  THINK ABOUT IT!

Arthritis Results.... a personal testimony

DIALYSIS & Rheumatoid Arthritis

I can remember being very sick when I was 2 years old.  My kidney infections were so bad and I had such severe hives that my mother would put me on a little pallet in front of the door to keep me cool.

When I was 30, the doctor informed me that I had Rheumatoid Arthritis throughout my body; he prescribed Indocen. My fingers were full of nodules and stiff.  Herb, my husband, had to pull me out of bed each morning to get me on my feet; I was so stiff, I couldn’t do it myself.

I have been using Shaklee for 35 years.  I have been re-tested for Rheumatoid Arthritis and the doctor said I do not have it anymore.  I don’t have trouble with my blood sugar like I did either.   I just thank the Lord for leading me to the doctor who was responsible for introducing me to the Shaklee Food Supplements, because it had resulted in restoring my health.

In 2010, my doctor wanted to put me on dialysis, because my body kept creating kidney stones/infections; my creatine level was over 4.  I didn’t want to go there three times a week, so I said NO!

He said I would die if I didn’t and I told him that was OK, because I was a Christian and I was ready anytime the Lord wanted me.

I increased my Vivix from one teaspoon to two tablespoons daily and after six months, to my doctor’s surprise, my creatinine level dropped to 1.0 which falls in the normal range for women of 0.5 to 1.1. Now, I go to the Nephrologist only once a quarter!

CHEMICALS AND YOUR HEALTH

ASTHMA … DIGESTIVE AND RESPIRATORY ISSUES … DERMATITIS … ECZEMA … EYE AND SKIN BURNS … REPRODUCTIVE ISSUES … LIVER AND KIDNEY DAMAGE … HEADACHES

Educate yourself about what you bring into your home at www.householdproducts.nlm.nih.gov/products.htm

AND COULD YOUR CLEANERS BE CONNECTED TO YOUR CHILDREN’s BEHAVIOR??

Read what Beth has to say about her son:

My experience with Shaklee products began from a desperate need to get

help for my son.  He had been on Ritalin for two and one- half years.

What began as a "miracle drug" ended as a personality-altering nightmare.

At first, we were amazed at how he instantly became a good student.  He

was no longer in trouble all the time and had the ability to sit still

and focus.  He said "okay" when asked to perform simple tasks, and "thank

you" and " I'm sorry".  He actually complimented his brothers!  Our

lifestyle as a family changed drastically and the constant tension was

 eased.

By the end of two and one-half years, however, the medication had taken

its toll.  It became a sedative that worked for a short time, but when it

began to wear off, our son would become explosive.  Once, when he was  in

a rage of frustration and anger,  I asked him what was wrong, and all he

could say, in fits of tears and thrashing, was, "I don't know, Mommy!! I

don't know!!"  He was nine years old.

At the same time, the Lord brought a new friend into my life.  She

"happened" to be a very experienced mother of four boys -two of whom were

taking Shaklee supplements for ADH.  My husband and I decided to try the

same program they were using, and we are so glad we did!

To summarize…our son is now able to be the person God made him to be.

Shortly after beginning the program, we came to know a boy we had never

had the opportunity to know before.  Not only did his creativity come

back, but a thoughtful, kind, insightful attitude accompanied it.  There

is a depth in him that the "focus" of medication limited.  Ritalin kept

him focused, but very shallow.  He's free now to think and express

himself in delightful and deeply thoughtful ways.  He remains very

active,  which can be, honestly, quite trying at times.  But his need for

physical expression is minor compared to what we have gained.  We've

discovered that there are other answers for the behavior difficulties.

I had heard something about fumes from cleaning supplies causing children

to be"hyper " and out of control.  I gave it little thought until one day

I was cleaning the bathroom with  bleach and made myself sick with the

smell of Clorox bleach in my nostrils.  I thought that if it could cause

me, an adult, to feel so ill, what must it do to a child?  Several days

later, my boys were playing in the basement, and suddenly my oldest

became very mean-spirited, bossy, and LOUD (does that sound familiar to

any of you?!).  Immediately I thought, "What has he had to eat?"  I

couldn't think of anything he'd eaten that would make him act this way.

Looking in the direction of the noise, I realized that the dishwasher was

on.  I couldn't imagine that it possibly could be the fumes from the

dishwasher detergent; however, I decided to experiment during the next

 few days.

Each day, while my son was doing well, I'd turn on the dishwasher, and

as soon as the steam began seeping out with the smell of detergent, he

would go crazy!!  It was as if  he responded on cue: a phenomenon I would

not have believed if I hadn't seen it with my own eyes!  Needless to say,

we have changed to Basic D for the dishwasher, and we also use Basic H

and G.  I have seen no ill effects of these cleaners on my kids, and I

have watched my boys while I used the products, so that I could monitor

 any changes in their behavior.

Taking his supplements has been a part of my son's daily routine now for

almost three years.  By the way, until we began the Shaklee supplements,

he and his brothers were in the doctor's office at least once every six

weeks for this or that ailment.  In the last three years, he has been to

 see the doctor one time!

I am so thankful for Shaklee and am glad that I can always trust the

consistency of their products.  Shaklee has given us so much hope for our

son, and,  the quality of our life as a family has dramatically improved.

Thank you,  Shaklee!

How Clean are your Dishes?

Phosphates pose a threat to aquatic life and can end up in drinking-water reservoirs. In response to new laws, more and more makers of dishwasher detergents are reducing the amounts of phosphates in their products. But, according to a recent article published by The New York Times, "Cleaner for the Environment, Not for the Dishes," consumers claim their low-phosphate detergents aren't getting the job done.

Launched in 1991, Shaklee Basic-D® was the first patented phosphate-free dishwashing cleanser. Today, our Shaklee Get Clean® Dish Washer Automatic Powder Concentrate is a patented, high-performing, phosphate-free dishwasher cleanser. Its enzyme-activated formula removes tough stains without the need for prerinsing, leaving dishes sparkling clean. Shaklee Get Clean products do not contain phosphates—and never will.

Shouldn't everyone you know be using a phosphate-free dishwasher concentrate that leaves dishes sparkling clean?
