MGM Supplement: Cholesterol-Raising Trans Fats Have Risky Alternatives
Artificial trans fats are formed when food manufacturers add hydrogen to vegetable oil to make it solidify, in a process called hydrogenation. Partially hydrogenated oil boosts the stability of a food's flavor, as well as its shelf life, and the oils have long been a key ingredient in baked and fried foods.
Research has shown that trans fats in these oils may be even worse for heart health than the saturated fat found in foods like meat and butter. Not only do trans fats raise "bad" LDL cholesterol, as saturated fat does, but they also lower heart healthy HDL cholesterol.
With trans fats so out of favor, New York City recently banned them from restaurants, and other cities may follow suit. The search for alternatives is on.
However, one of those replacement fats are so-called interesterified fats. They may carry their own health threats, according to a study published in the journal Nutrition & Metabolism.
The interesterified oils may not only lower HDL levels but also cause a significant rise in blood sugar, researchers found.
The findings are concerning, study co-author Dr. K. C. Hayes told Reuters Health, in part because the study volunteers used the interesterified fats for only four weeks. "Blood glucose went up quite precipitously," said Hayes, a professor of biology at Brandeis University in Waltham, Massachusetts.
The problem, he and his colleagues found, seems to be that interesterified fats change the body's levels of insulin, which regulates blood sugar.
The researchers arrived at their findings after having 30 healthy volunteers follow each of three diets for four weeks apiece. In each diet, participants got about 30 percent of their calories from fat, with the major source being either a natural saturated fat (palm oil), or a partially hydrogenated soybean oil, or an interesterified soybean oil.
Compared with the palm oil, the interesterified fat increased volunteers' blood sugar by 20 percent, while also lowering their HDL.
Interesterified fats are already being used as a replacement for trans fats in commercial foods. "It's probably the number-one process to replace trans fats," Hayes noted. The current findings, he said, suggest that more research is needed before the fats become the new standard.
Hayes said consumers can find out whether their newly "trans-fat-free" crackers and cookies have interesterified fats by looking for "fully hydrogenated oil" on the package's ingredient list. If the ingredients simply list the type of oil is canola or corn for example, then the fat is present "as nature intended it," Hayes noted.

MGM Supplement: What Can Soy Protien Do For You?
Are you barely getting through the day?
When you need energy, do you reach for a cup of coffee, pop, or a doughnut?
Does this happen to you every two hours?
People whose diet consists of caffeine and sugar, their blood sugar levels are like a roller coaster. They are searching for energyin all the wrong places. Caffeine and sugar are a temporary fix.
So the big question is where to get a lasting source of energy without stimulants and sugar? Three words....
ENERGIZING SOY PROTEIN
Why Choose MGM Supplement's Energizing Soy Protein?
14 grams of protein per serving
Uses only IPP-certified non-GMO soy protein
Highest-rated protein quality
Natural vegetarian protein source
Naturally cholesterol free
No saturated fat
Naturally lactose free, 50% of your daily needs for calcium
All the amino acids, including the nine essential ones you must get from food
The key to MGM Supplement's Soy Protein's amazing ability to help people feel energized for hours is something scientists refer to as glycemic response. Glycemic response describes the effect a food has on blood sugar. Foods like a hot-fudge sundae can cause your blood sugar to spike and then plummet rapidly. A short time after you've finished the last spoonful, you feel tired, irritable, and surprisingly hungry considering the number of calories you've just consumed.
Soy and Menopause
Cross-cultural studies of menopausal women have found that women in Japan experience a smoother transitional period than women in the West. Soy foods are commonly consumed in Asian countries, providing an estimated 25-45 mg of isoflavones per day for the average person. [1]
Breast and Prostate Health
It has long been known that many soy-consuming Asian populations have better rates of breast and prostate health that do Western populations.
There are many factors involved in prostate health, but a recent, large-scale population-health study suggests soy intake as one of those factors. In this study, men who reported frequently consuming soy milk (which contains isoflavones) were 70% more likely to maintain prostate health during a follow-up period, compared to the men who had little or no soy in their diet.[2]
So, who can benefit from Energizing Soy Protein?
EVERYONE!

MGM Supplement: Are You Prepared For Flu Season?
Don't Touch the First Floor Elevator Button! In an elevator, the first-floor button harbors the most germs because more people touch it than any other button. If you can, let someone else push it so you don't have to touch it, said Charles Gerba, Ph.D., professor of microbiology at the University of Arizona. If you're alone, use your elbow instead of your finger to press the button. [Use your elbow even if others are there. Be safe don't be worried about what others think!] Use your elbow for opening doors. In some countries they touch elbows instead of shaking hands! Shopping Cart Handles Shopping cart handles are prime culprits in the spread of germs. Some supermarkets now offer germ-killing towelette dispensers in the cart area. Bring your own if they don't. Use them to sanitize the cart handle. And never put fresh produce in the cart seat, where diaper-aged children often sit. Office Coffee Pots Dripping With Disease Your office coffee pot and mug may have been cleaned with a sponge dripping with germs (more on these later). Hang on to your own mug, and use a dishwasher when it's time to clean it. Another trick: Keep apple cider vinegar in the office and pour a water-cider solution through the coffee machine weekly. It will help kill bacteria. Kitchen Woes Be aware that kitchen sponges, dishcloths, the kitchen and bathroom sinks, cutting boards, and even the bathroom floor carry more germs than the toilet seat.
New research suggests that if you want to sterilize your sponge, put it in the microwave for two minutes. A team of engineering researchers at the University of Florida found that two minutes of microwaving on full power killed or inactivated more than 99 percent of bacteria, viruses or parasites, as well as spores, on a kitchen sponge.
Your Desk Is Dirtier Than the Toilet Get this: The typical office desk area has 400 times the amount of bacteria than the average toilet seat. Use a disinfectant like MGM Supplements Basic Degermer to clean the desktop, computer keyboard, and phone.
Mom always said "Cover your mouth" But maybe she should told you to sneeze into your elbow. You don't need me to tell you when to wash your hands, but did you know that science shows (our tax dollars at work!) that to be effective it is necessary to scrub your hands with warm water and soap for at least 15 to 20 seconds. Incredibly, 95 percent of people say they wash their hands after using the bathroom, but only 67 percent really do it. Worse, only 33 percent bother to use soap, and only 16 percent wash their hands long enough to remove germs. Do you still want to shake hands?
One last caveat: Everyone is doing the "anti-bacterial craze" getting soaps and wipes that kill germs. Occasional use of these products is fine, but studies suggest frequent use may be bad. The anti-bacterials also kill the good bacteria on your skin that your body needs to defend against the bad bacteria.
Think about strengthening your immune system With Supplements to feed your good soldiers: MGM's Immune Builder I ”powerful synergistic antioxidants; Garlic Vitamins” antiviral, antibacterial and detoxifying; Sustained Released Vitamin C” buffered, natural and complete with flavanoids; Bactiflora" live flora that protect and defend from our intestines; Defend and Resist to jump start your immune system at the first tickle in your throat; and Nurtri Immune Builder" unique patented herbs that help your body make it's own interferon to keep your immune system balanced.

MGM Supplement: Is The Epidemic Really Just Over Diagnosis?
You might think this is because doctors make mistakes (we do make mistakes). But you can't be a victim of medical error if you are not in the system. The larger threat posed by American medicine is that more and more of us are being drawn into the system not because of an epidemic of disease, but because of an epidemic of diagnoses.
Americans live longer than ever, yet more of us are told we are sick. How can this be? One reason is that we devote more resources to medical care than any other country. Some of this investment is productive, curing disease and alleviating suffering. But it also leads to more diagnoses, a trend that has become an epidemic. This epidemic is a threat to your health. It has two distinct sources. One is the medicalization of everyday life. Most of us experience physical or emotional sensations we don't like, and in the past, this was considered a part of life. Increasingly, however, such sensations are considered symptoms of disease. Everyday experiences like insomnia, sadness, twitchy legs and impaired sex drive now become diagnoses: sleep disorder, depression, restless leg syndrome and sexual dysfunction. Perhaps most worrisome is the medicalization of childhood. If children cough
after exercising, they have asthma; if they have trouble reading, they are dyslexic; if they are unhappy, they are depressed; and if they alternate between unhappiness and liveliness, they have bipolar disorder.
While these diagnoses may benefit the few with severe symptoms, one has to wonder about the effect on the many whose symptoms are mild, intermittent or transient. The other source is the drive to find disease early. While diagnoses used to be reserved for serious illness, we now diagnose illness in people who have no symptoms at all, those with so-called predisease or those at risk. Two developments accelerate this process. First, advanced technology allows doctors to look really hard for things to be wrong. We can detect trace molecules in the blood. We can direct fiber-optic devices into every orifice. And CT scans, ultrasounds, M.R.I. and PET scans let doctors define subtle structural defects deep inside the body. These technologies make it possible to give a diagnosis to just about everybody: arthritis in people without joint pain, stomach damage in people without heartburn and prostate cancer in over a million people who, but for testing, would have lived as
long without being a cancer patient.
Second, the rules are changing. Expert panels constantly expand what constitutes disease: thresholds for diagnosing diabetes, hypertension, osteoporosis and obesity have all fallen in the last few years. The criterion for normal cholesterol has dropped multiple times. With these changes, disease can now be diagnosed in more than half the population. Most of us assume that all this additional diagnosis can only be beneficial. And some of it is. But at the extreme, the logic of early detection is absurd. If more than half of us are sick, what does it mean to be normal? Many more of us harbor pre-disease than will ever get disease, and all of us are at risk. The medicalization of everyday life is no less problematic. Exactly what are we doing to our children when 40 percent of summer campers are on one or more chronic prescription medications?
No one should take the process of making people into patients lightly. There are real drawbacks. Simply labeling people as diseased can make them feel anxious and vulnerable” a particular concern in children. But the real problem with the epidemic of diagnoses is that it leads to an epidemic of treatments. Not all treatments have important benefits, but almost all can have harms. Sometimes the harms are known, but often the harms of new therapies take years to emerge after many have been exposed. For the severely ill, these harms generally pale relative to the potential benefits. But for those experiencing mild symptoms, the harms become much more relevant. And for the many labeled as having predisease or as being at risk but destined to remain healthy, treatment can only cause harm. The epidemic of diagnoses has many causes. More diagnoses mean more money for drug manufacturers, hospitals, physicians and disease advocacy groups. Researchers, and even the disease-based organization of the National Institutes of Health, secure their stature (and financing) by promoting the detection of "their" disease. Medico-legal concerns also drive the epidemic. While failing to make a diagnosis can result in lawsuits, there are no corresponding penalties for overdiagnosis. Thus, the path of least resistance for clinicians is to diagnose liberally even when we wonder if doing so really helps our patients. As more of us are being told we are sick, fewer of us are being told we are well. People need to think hard about the benefits and risks of increased diagnosis: the fundamental question they face is whether or not to become a patient. And doctors need to remember the value of reassuring people that they are not sick. Perhaps someone should start monitoring a new health metric: the proportion of the population not requiring medical care. And the National Institutes of Health could propose a new goal for medical researchers: reduce the need for medical services, not increase it.
A good way to assure a healthy long life starts first with a good attitude. No drugs should be required to put us in this good state of mind. Supplementing with vitamins and living in harmony with the enviroment will also assure a long healthy life. MGM Supplement (A shaklee Distributor) is dedicated to being ecologically effective in making our bodies healthy and our homes a healthy place to live.

MGM Supplement - Try Some Erbal Stress Relief
I'm sooooooooooooo excited to share with you the HUGE difference that Stress Relief vitamins have made in our lives. My Darlin' Jack has battled with sleeplessness for years. He says he is a light sleeper but I know he is up most nights, often for hours at a time. This has been his pattern for years - decades. His father is the same way so I figured it was genetic. We tried Valerian, Calcium, melatonin and exercises.
Then we found the MGM Supplement Stress Relief Vitamins
Jack likes the stress relief vitamins and says he can feel a big difference taking it whenever he feels stressed (he takes one vitamin in the AM and one before bed and more on pushed days). When he works at his computer I see the difference. With the stress relief vitamins he is much more relaxed. Without it, his shoulders get pulled up and his neck and back are very tight. And that brings me to the point of this testimony:
Jack takes a stress relief vitamin before bed and now sleeps through the night - everynight!
I was reluctant to say anything at first but it has been consistant for several months now. Thank you MGM Supplement (A shaklee Distributor)!!!
May this assist others to have healthier dreams.....

Cholesterol levels may predict dementia
A decline can precede diagnosis of the mental condition by 15 years
Reuters
Updated: 3:46 p.m. MT Jan 19, 2007
A decline in total cholesterol levels may precede the diagnosis of dementia by
at least 15 years, according to a study reported in the Archives of Neurology.
“Studies like this are extremely valuable because they can provide a 'window' on to processes going on early in dementia, allowing researchers to look back in time at people’s health and other characteristics and compare these between people who develop dementia and those who do not,” Dr. Robert Stewart from King’s College London, told Reuters Health.
Stewart and colleagues used data from the Honolulu-Asia Aging Study to compare the natural history of changes in cholesterol levels over a 26-year period among 56 men who had dementia at examination three years after the last cholesterol measurement, and 971 men who did not have dementia.
Total cholesterol levels at the beginning of the study did not differ by later dementia status, the authors report, but the decline in subsequent cholesterol levels was significantly steeper among men who went on to develop dementia.
Adjustment for potential confounding factors strengthened the association between cholesterol level decline and the development of dementia, the resultsindicate.
General health might decline with cholesterol levels The cholesterol level decline was most marked in men with dementia and the APOE gene mutation — a marker of Alzheimer’s syndrome — and in those with dementia and worse self-reported general health at the final cholesterol measurement, the researchers note.
“The observed associations may not represent direct causal pathways,” the investigators say. “Hypocholesterolemia (low cholesterol) is recognized to be associated with frailty and poor general health. It also has been found to be specifically associated with inflammatory markers and poor nutritional status.”
Rather, they suggest, “It is possible that the decline in cholesterol levels is a marker for early processes that reflect neurodegenerative changes and also lead to a decline in general health status.”
The drop in cholesterol was not a result of medication. “Very few of the participants in this study were receiving cholesterol-lowering treatment at the time the decline in cholesterol levels was observed (there were few cholesterol lowering medications around at that time in the 1970s), so medication was not responsible for this,” Stewart explained.
“The drop in cholesterol was instead probably caused by some other event and was a ’marker’ of risk rather than actually increasing the risk itself,” he concluded.

MGM Supplement: Sensitive Skin, Rosacea, Facial Waxing, Eye Brow Treatments
I had recently asked for information from MGM Supplement (a shaklee distributor)about persons with Rosacea. I was immediately swamped with information about the Enfuselle products and how to go about using it with sensitive skin and skin with Rosacea.
I am a Hair Stylist and Cosmetologist. I have now implemented using the Purifying Toner and Calming Complex with my clients after a Facial waxing.
I have male and female clients who get their eyebrows, face, lips and chins waxed. Furthermore, anytime this is done, the face usually has a reddness that stays with them until they get home and a few hours afterwards. Also, they experience bumps, swelling, and sometimes a little tenderness and soreness.
I had previously used a cooling gel from the shop that works at cooling the skin afterwards, but that's all it does. So I tried the Purifying Toner and then the Calming Complex. Are you ready for this: It not only kept the face from flaming, bumping and swelling, but before the client even left the salon the reddness was gone. You would never have known they had a waxing done.
Most males definitely don't want anyone to know they are getting their brows cleaned up, and women don't want the world to know, they are getting their faces waxed. Now, not a soul would even guess they'd had it done. The Calming Complex took care of everything. I now use the Calming Complex for all my clients, not just the Rosacea clients.

MGM Supplement: Feel Energized Right From the Start With Soy Protien!
Tonight before I went to work out I took some energizing soy protien and drank a glass of performace. Well It just so happens that tonight I had one of the best workouts that I've had in years. I usually don't do much cardio I just stick to lifting weights, mostly because I just get to tired. Tonight however was a totally different story. I started out biking then went to a stair stepping machine and finally I ended my cardio by running two miles. In all I did 45 minutes of cardio and 20 minutes of intense weight training. And I'm going to have to credit it all to the energizing soy protien.
I would recomend soy protien to everyone, even if you are not involved in a exercise plan. I have been told that it makes for a great start to your day if it is drank with your breakfast.

MGM Supplement: What are people saying about MGM Supplement?
What Health Care Professionals Are Saying About MGM Supplement (a shaklee distributor)!
From Dr. Steve Chaney, PhD,
One of the biggest mistakes people make is taking inexpensive vitamins or buying them based on "deals". Cut-rate products often contain additives, food allergens, sugar, artificial food coloring and flavoring. Many are coated with shellac, or contain potentially hazardous chemicals like chlorine. We know from various studies that potency and purity can vary widely from pill to pill and bottle to bottle. Another problem is freshness. The FDA does not require expiration dates on supplement bottles, so many companies don't include them. (Note to reader - all MGM supplements are labeled with an expiration date.) But - we KNOW MGM Supplement ( a shaklee distributor ) performs up to 176 separate tests for purity, freshness, potency, and safety on the raw ingredients for a single product! "The bitterness of poor quality lingers long after the cheap price is forgotten!"
From Christopher C. Jensen, PhD, VP of Scientific Affairs for Shaklee
Most supplement companies would worry about a visit from the FDA, but Shaklee scientists invited FDA representatives to the Norman, Oklahoma manufacturing plant to discuss quality control standards for the industry. The FDA came away impressed by the rigorous quality control measures at Shaklee that far exceed those typically found in the dietary supplement industry. There will always be bogus ingredients in the marketplace. They'll never be in Shaklee products, however, because they don't meet our scientific standards. It comes down to a question of short term sales or long standing integrity. Shaklee screens all raw materials for presence of heavy metals or agrichemical residues, solvents, coloring agents, flavoring agents, irradiation, nutrient composition and more. This procedure is common in the pharmaceutical industry, but not in the minimally-regulated supplement industry. One example of Shaklee's philosophy in action is the steps we took upon learning that ginseng supplies from China were contaminated with a fungicide. Despite the fact that asian ginseng was one of our best selling herbal products, we took ours off the market, yet few if any other companies stopped selling ginseng. Shaklee truly cares about each ingredient in every product it sells, and is committed to "living in harmony with nature."
Shaklee can be the one thing that you could do to help the enviroment. Did you know that shaklee has been involved in the planting of one million trees in Africa to more that make up for the pollution that the shaklee factory produces. Now if only we could get every company to do this.

MGM Supplement: Herblax May Fight Effects of Aging Brain
Licorice Root May Keep Mental Skills Sharp
Compound Derived From Licorice Root May Fight Effects of Aging on Brain
By Jennifer Warner
WebMD Medical News
Reviewed By Brunilda Nazario, MD on Monday, March 29, 2004
March 29, 2004 -- A compound derived from licorice root may help slow the effects of aging on the brain and keep mental skills sharp.
Researchers found the compound, known as carbenoxolone, appears to inhibit an enzyme in the brain that is involved in making stress-related hormones, which have been associated with age-related mental decline.
The study, published in the online early edition of the Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences, showed daily supplementation with the compound improved verbal fluency in healthy elderly men and improved verbal memory in older adults with diabetes.
Although this was a small study and more research is needed to confirm the results, researchers say the licorice root compound may offer a new way to help prevent the normal decline in memory and other cognitive skills people experience as they grow older.
Licorice Root May Fight Effects of Aging on Brain
Researchers say previous human and animal studies have shown that differences in cognitive function can be attributed to differences in long- term exposure to hormones produced by the adrenal glands, such as cortisol. [Shaklee Stress Relief counteracts cortisol].
In the study, researchers examined whether inhibiting levels of an enzyme required to increase the activity of these hormones with the licorice root compound might have any effect on cognitive function.
A group of 10 healthy men aged 55-75 years and 12 older adults with diabetes were randomly assigned to take either 100 mg of carbenoxolone per day or a placebo. Neither group had dementia or other impairment, but had only the expected age-related changes in mental function.
After four weeks, researchers found healthy men that took the supplement performed better on a word association test that assessed their verbal fluency skills.
After six weeks of using the compound, the verbal memory skills among the people with diabetes improved, according to various list learning and paragraph recall tests.
Previous studies have suggested that the licorice root compound might increase insulin sensitivity and improve diabetes, but glucose control levels remained unchanged during the study in this group.
Cortisol levels in the blood also remained unchanged in the study. Researchers say those results suggest that carbenoxolone may act directly on brain cells and reduce the amount of the hormone circulating in the brain to prevent or slow age-related declines in cognitive function.

Tip from Dr. Weil...
Meet Matcha
Green tea is one of my favorite drinks, and my favorite green tea is Matcha. Literally powdered tea, matcha is a carefully crafted green tea that is whisked with hot water in a bowl to make a frothy beverage. Preparation of matcha is the focus of the Japanese tea ceremony and has a long association with Zen. Matcha is the only form of tea in which the whole leaf is consumed, and because it is made from top-quality leaves that are treated with great care, it delivers more of the healthful elements of green tea than other forms.
In addition to providing trace minerals and vitamins (A, B-complex, C, E, and K), matcha is rich in catechin polyphenols, compounds with high antioxidant activity. These compounds offer protection against many kinds of cancer, help prevent cardiovascular disease and slow the aging process. They also reduce harmful cholesterol in the blood, stabilize blood sugar levels, help reduce high blood pressure and enhance the body's resistance to many toxins. Matcha also has a significant amount of dietary fiber and practically no calories.
Try substituting matcha for coffee or other caffeinated drinks. Prepare for Cold and Flu Season With the cold and flu season almost here, there is no better time to help support your immune system and protect your health with antioxidants such as vitamins C and E. MGM Supplement: Allergies Have Met Their Match
I just wanted to write and tell you a story I thought you might enjoy, and one you can use when you speak to people about MGM Supplement. As you know I have been using MGM products since I was very young. I'd say I was around 8 or 9 when my folks started as MGM Supplement Distributors. Even back then I remember the quality of MGM Supplement products making a difference. There was a time I got stung by bees in three spots. When I was bit my face swelled up. I can remember my parents giving me Alfalfa and the swelling went down pretty quickly.
As I got older I sort of drifted away from the MGM products. Convenience replaced quality and I fell into the trap so many of us can from time to time. I had also been told by allergists that it was easier to tell me what I was NOT allergic to than what I was. So I resigned a life to taking prescription medications, allergy shots that would make me sick, and nasal sprays that were awful. I forgot how awesome MGM Supplement products were... and still are. Then not too long ago I decided to get cats. Now.. I know what your thinking,"He's allergic to everything... surely cats are on the list!", and you'd be right. But this time I remembered the alfalfa. And I remembered reading info about Nutriferon. So.. I went online. Ordered my stuff. I got the cats. I got my product and started taking it. Then I waited to see what would happen. And here's the best part.... Nothing happened!! No sneezing... no runny nose... no feeling miserable because cats are around. No more prescription medications that had nasty side effects! Nothing. I can actually live in a house with cats and not have an allergic reaction.
It's amazing to say the least. I don't get that lethargic feeling the medications would cause. I have more energy. I sleep better. I'll never drift away from my MGM supplements again. They mean too much to me now that I am remembering how incredible they are. Get this.. the only times I feel my allergies kick back up is when I forget to take my Alfalfa and Nutriferon!

Thank you so much for recommending CitriBoost! My 11 month old daughter was diagnosed with Rotavirus. According to her pediatrician, this is the absolute worst virus (especially for children under two years of age). My daughter, Miranda, had constant vomiting for five days (she could not keep anything in her stomach). Two and one-half days into the sickness, a low grade fever began along with severe diarrhea. When an infant looses 10% of their body weight, they are admitted into the hospital for fluids through an IV. I was extremely concerned, as Miranda was very close to that weight loss percentage.
CitriBoost was recomended to me by a Shaklee Distributor. I mixed it with a little baby food and that evening she was able to keep the food in her stomach. The next day, the vomiting was completely gone and the diarrhea disappeared within the next six hours. I did give her two more doses of CitriBoost that day (1/4 teaspoon mixed with baby food). I am extremely impressed with the product and hope that this information helps someone else through such a trying and frightening experience with their precious child.

MGM Supplement: Ulcer Remedies
Anti-ulcer Fruit Cocktail
Bananas
Pineapple
Blueberries
Ground cinnamon
Ground cloves
Ground ginger
Honey (optional)
Bananas are an old folk remedy for many gastrointestinal problems because they soothe the digestive tract.
Pineapple- Like cabbage, pineapple is fairly well endowed with glutamine, a compound with experimentally verified anti-ulcer effects. Pineapple also
contains bromelain, a general digestive aid.
Cut up the bananas and pineapple. Place them in a serving bowl and add the blueberries. Season to taste with the cinnamon, cloves and ginger and sweeten with the honey.
Bilberry and blueberry. Both of these fruits contain compounds known as anthocyanosides. In studies with experimental animals, these compounds have been shown to offer significant protection against ulcers. They help stimulate the production of mucus that protects the stomach lining from digestive acids.
Anti-ulcer drink: blend blueberry juice, pineapple juice, and a banana and the spices listed above. Garnish with a peppermint sprig.
Use candied ginger as an herbal alternative), instead of ranitidine (Zantac) and famotidine (Pepcid)
Ginger is well-known for its anti-inflammatory activity. Ginger contains 11 compounds that have demonstrated anti-ulcer effects.
Eating honey-candied ginger is a pleasant-tasting treatment for ulcers, according to Paul Schulick, New England herbalist and author of Ginger: Common Spice and Wonder Drug. The combination of honey and ginger is particularly effective, he notes. In addition to the antibacterial compounds that are available from ginger, honey has antibacterial action, and the two together seem to produce synergistic effects.
Whole Foods has some good tasting candied ginger.
Other ulcer foods are alfalfa, Camomile tea, green tea, & garlic.
Raw cabbage juice is a hallowed folk remedy for ulcers. It turns out that cabbage and its juice contain considerable amounts of two compounds with anti-ulcer activity, glutamine and S-methyl-methionine.
Melvyn Werbach, M.D., assistant clinical professor of psychiatry at the University of California, Los Angeles, School of Medicine and author of the excellent Nutritional Influences on Illness, cites a study of people with ulcers who were given raw cabbage juice as a treatment. Ninety-two percent showed significant improvement within three weeks compared with 32 percent of those taking a look alike treatment (a placebo) without cabbage juice.
The folk recommendation for treating ulcers is to drink one quart of raw cabbage juice a day.
Garlic is a potent, broad-spectrum antibiotic. Paul Bergner, editor of Medical Herbalism, suggests that those who are wary of pharmaceutical antibiotics for ulcer treatment might want to try a course of garlic therapy.
Healing Cabbage Soup
INGREDIENTS
3 tablespoons olive oil
1/2 onion, chopped
2 cloves garlic, chopped
2 quarts water
4 teaspoons chicken bouillon
1 teaspoon salt, or to taste
1/2 teaspoon black pepper, or to taste
1/2 head cabbage, cored and coarsely chopped
1 (14.5 ounce) can Italian-style stewed tomatoes, drained and diced
DIRECTIONS

Bring to a boil, then stir in cabbage. Simmer until cabbage wilts, about 10 minutes. Season with the ginger, cinnamon, cloves and licorice. Stir in tomatoes. Return to a boil, then simmer 15 to 30 minutes, stirring often.

MGM Supplement: Are Your Children Getting Sick Often?
I was first introduced to Shaklee about 14 years ago when my son was just under a year old. He was a healthy baby at birth but he quickly developed respiratory illnesses. He was diagnosed with his first ear infection at 8 weeks! Ear and sinus infections became commonplace, Anyone who has had children with ear infections and has done the midnight runs to the emergency rooms with high fevers and nonstop refills of antibiotics knows of the anxiety and frustration associated with this medial dilemma. After meeting with pediatric specialists at Huron Valley, St. Joes, Botsford and finally UofM, I had a chance encounter with a doctor who balanced traditional medicine with a holistic approach to wellness. He explained to me, which made perfect sense, that all of the antibiotics that they had been pumping into my son had actually destroyed his precious little immune system. His suggestion, coupled with surgical intervention for a tonsillectomy, adnoidectomy and ear tubes was to take him off all antibiotics and put him on a natural supplementation program
that would rebuild his immune system and allow his body to fight the infections off naturally. The first set of vitamins I bought at the health food store, made my son sick to his stomach. I tried them, they made me nauseous too! I was getting frustrated, I was finally introduced to MGM Supplements. After some research I found that MGM Supplement products were actually food derivatives and that they did not contain the fillers or synthetics found in commercially manufactured supplements. I tried them, and they worked! No nausea and we could all take them with a light breakfast and keep them down with no side effects! We started him on Liquid Lea, Vitamin C, B Complex (crushed), Immunity I (beta carotine) and soy protein . We dosed him 3 times a day. After about 2 weeks he showed definate signs of improvement. He started swallowing the supplements at 2 years old, always drinking through a straw to help wash them down. I mixed the protein in applesauce as we tried to avoid all dairy. And then one day....NO MORE ANTIBIOTICS. The combination of the two approaches was a complete success. I can count the times on one hand that he has been ill in the last 10 years. He is now a healthy teenager.

MGM Supplement: Are You Getting Enough Vitamin C?
Who needs Vitamin C? Those who experience stress, who bruise easily, have bleeding gums, nosebleeds, varicose or spider veins, are slow to heal with wounds or fractures. Those who have chronic infection, shortness of breath, allergies and asthma, experience frequent colds and flu, prickly heat, swollen glands, anemia, a weakened immune system or colon polyps.
sourced from Nutrition and You
One would need to eat 8 oranges to find enough Vitamin C found in just one of our Sustained Release Vitamin C. The design of the pill gives you 100 mg bursts of Vitamin C each and every hour, taken daily it's a remarkable nutritional tool. Our C comes in chewable form for the kiddies. MGM Supplement also felt it was important to include Vitamin C in their Basics Daily Strips. A convenient daily dose of truly the most basic yet scientifically valid nutrients for the body.

MGM Supplement: Don't Be a Victim of Habit! Mix it up a Little
Maybe you have a bagel with cream cheese with your double latte Frappuccino in the morning. Not to mention a few diet sodas along the day. We like to create routine in our lives. It's comfortable and creates security. I say, "I have my routine, and I like knowing what I'm doing when, and why mess with a good thing?" You have to ask yourself is the routine working? So either live with seeing no changes or shake it up.
The human body is a brilliant machine and it will adapt to any consistent form of exercise we throw at it. The body will find a way to become proficient at anything. What does that mean? Well, that we won't have to work as hard, therefore we will not be getting the results we used to.
Humans are looking for the path of least resistance. Work? Why make it hard on ourselves. Our calorie burning thermostat gets set and only work and a change in food is going to move that needle.
Whatever is easier for you to change, working out hard or eating healthy, attack first.
Working Out: Take a look at your routine. If we are talking about the gym, get some new moves.
• Take a cardio class you have always been afraid to take. Read your paper later.
• Watch someone in the gym whose body you like. See what kinds of moves they are doing and incorporate them into your own regimen. You can even go up and ask them about why they are doing certain exercises and how to do it safely. People will be flattered. Make it hard. Add some reps, weight, or sets. I like the idea of just doing completely new exercises all together.
• Get a workout partner. Someone more in shape than you that will force you to pick up the pace. A lot of times you help them work hard, too, because they're trying to be a good example to you.
• If it's not too cold, get outside once a week. Don't get stuck in the gym; it takes a little more effort but you will be inspired by taking a hike or going for a bike ride outside. You could save this for your weekend and do it with a loved one. Grab some music and don't dilly dally.
• Try some form of physical activity you have never tried before. Swim, yoga, mat pilates, circuit training with a weighted ball, Qi Gong (also good for stress relief). There are so many options to get out of your rut. Be adventurous and try to shift your perspective on what "working out" is all about. There is some really cool stuff out there to do, and will bust your buns in the interim. If all I did was go round and round on the elliptical, I would be over it, too. Participate in your relationship with fitness. It's not as limited as you think.
Eating Healthy: All right, my people, let's get down to business - food and drink consumption:
• Even if you eat healthy, your body will adjust to the calories you take in and the kinds of food you're eating. Gotta switch it up. Eat really clean one week and then stretch it out the next. You can even achieve the mix up by taking in more calories one day and then less the next. This way you don't get into a pattern that your metabolism gets used to.
• Beware of things that can get you. Juices, food made with flour (breads and pastas), soda (even diet), snacks, fat-free food, fast food, fattening sauces and dressings, alcohol, sugar... basically everything that is a lot of fun. I'm just saying be aware of what effect these foods have on your waistline. They can just sneak up and really start to work against you. If you know how they work, then you can be in control.
• Don't skip breakfast. Eat in the morning first thing; otherwise you start your body in a deficit, and it spends the entire day trying to get out of a hole. Eat real food. How hard is it to have a bowl of oatmeal (I like it with a little almond butter and maple syrup or agave nectar), or a couple of boiled eggs? Make sure you eat enough good fat so you feel full and satisfied; otherwise, you may have the tendency to keep eating until your body gets that feeling. Nuts, good oils (grape seed, olive), almond butter, avocado, fat from animal protein, dairy (if you can handle it), and sources like that.
• I see a trend that makes sense because it's easy, but can be a little troublesome. People eat frozen foods that they microwave. The situation is that you are getting all of the calories of that food which is OK, but not many of the nutrients. So in other words you are not getting any of the minerals, vitamins, and benefits that are supposed to come from our food. I don't think many of us realize how critical this is. The foods that we are eating are not living. So often times we are missing out on what the food is really all about. It's not just about taste and convenience. In some ways it would be like eating high-calorie, good-tasting cardboard. We need all those vitamins and minerals to help our body run more efficiently and keep all our hormones and other systems running correctly.
So if you think you are doing all of the "right" things and still not seeing change, maybe you just need a jolt. Get out of that comfort zone and move into the unknown. It can be scary, hard work, gratifying, and really fun. Life can be so monotonous, so why not mix it up and see what happens?

MGM Supplement: Clinical Study on MGM Suplementation
1. Non supplement users
2. Supplement users, but not MGM Supplements
3. MGM supplement users
The scientists at Berkeley were flabbergasted. There was a slight difference between groups 1 and 2, but the huge difference in good health came between groups 2 and 3. One staggering result was the participants? blood work showed that 100% of the people on MGM supplements had low C-Reactive protein numbers; the amount present in healthy individuals. Having 100% is unheard of in clinical testing. One of the reasons for MGM's run away lead is that MGM performs more quality assurance tests on their products and raw ingredients than the next 6 nutritional companies combined.

MGM Supplement: Say No More to Migraines
For headaches and migraines a detoxification program is required.
1 Hydration is essential.
Alfalfa is necessary to cleanse and purify the blood.
Herb Lax to cleanse the colon and bladder.
Liver DTX is for detoxing the liver.
Optiflora to replace healthy flora and continue to detoxify.
This part of the program should be continued until the system is healthy (see above).
2 Decrease the use of Herb Lax and increase fiber gradually.
3 Once the system is clean, begin a health- building regimen. The following supplements, along with a healthy diet and good hydration, will move you toward optimal health:
Vita-Lea 2 /day OsteoMatrix 4/day
En Soy Protein 3 tbls/day Alfalfa 12/day
Herb Lax 2-4/day Omega Guard 6/day
B Complex 6/day GLA 6/day
Vita C 6/day
Foods that can cause headaches:
- Cheese, chocolate, alcohol (esp. red wine), pickled herrings, soy sauce
- All foods containing amines
- Monosodium Glutamate and food colorings
- Fruits: bananas, plums and pineapple
- Milk products and wheat products.
Emergency Care Recipe for an on-coming migraine:
2 B-Complex 4-5 Alfalfa
2 OsteoMatrix 2 OmegaGuard
2 GLA 1 8 oz glass of Performance
Do this once every hour until you get results.
Additional notes
There are many causes of migraines and headaches..
Hormonal imbalance ….
Candida over growth
As well as toxins mentioned above..
New research is indicating excellent results with Vital Mag.. It is a newer product and reports are coming in that even 2 a day ( one am , one pm ) are helping enormously..
The above recommendatio s will help with most migraines ..
But if there is not 100% improvement, also consider the Candida diet …
Emphasizing fresh raw vegetables ( salads daily with at least 5 different ingredients) and reduce or eliminate sugar and refined carbohydrates and snacks ( B Complex and the Energizing Protein mentioned above really helps )
Remember when Candida “ dies off” .. it releases toxins.. so it is not unusual to experience detoxing symptoms once in a while .. after many days of being symptom-free…

MGM Supplement: Help for Restless Leg Syndrome
Nutritional deficiencies: particularly Calcium/Magnesium, B Complex and Lecithin
a) Calcium/Magnesium is essential for muscle health and relaxation
b) B Complex is essential for a healthy, balanced central nervous system
c) Lecithin is a fatty acid essential for insulating the myelin sheath on the central nervous system.
Lack of Amino Acids: ?Quantity? and ?Quality? are both essential with regard to Protein.
a) Quantity: Restless leg syndrome can be the result of lack of adequate protein (1/2 to 3/4 gm per pound of body weight is a minimum formula)
b) Quality: Many people get adequate protein from a quantity perspective, but the protein they are eating may be lacking in specific amino acids. Therefore, a raw soy protein powder is recommended to guarantee ALL nine of the essential amino acids daily.
Toxicity: The accumulation of toxins in cellular tissue is causing a variety of unusual responses in the cellular tissue. A daily detoxification program including an herbal detoxifier for cellular tissue and the liver are highly recommended in a polluted environment.
Poor Circulation: The legs are the farthest from the heart. Aging can cause poorer circulation which can lead to increased symptoms of restless leg syndrome. CoEnzymeQ10, Vitamin E and Ginkgo Biloba are recommended.
Recommendations:
Avoid caffeine-containing beverages ? they are stimulatory and will make matters worse.
Take a hot bath before bedtime.
Use Valerian at bedtime (an herbal muscle relaxant with no side effects)
Supplement your diet to provide the nutrients necessary:
STEP 1:a) Multiple Vitamin/Mineral
b) Raw Soy Protein Powder: the 9 essential amino acids
c) Herbal Detoxifier
STEP 2: a) Additional B Complex
b) Chew Calcium tablets about 30 minutes before bedtime
STEP 3: a) Use Ginkgo Biloba to increase blood circulation and increase cellular
communication
b) Use CoEnzymeQ10 to enhance circulation
STEP 4: a) Take 400 to 800 I.U. of Vitamin E in the evening
b) Take l500 mg of cold-processed Lecithin from soy bean daily
STEP 5: Take a detoxification bath (Soda bath) one a week
For a healthy heart:
CoQ Heart --helps reduce oxidation of LDL cholesterol up to 80%! Better absorption than commercial brands by 300%
essential if on cholesterol lowering drugs
Omega 3 --reduces silent inflammation responsible for many forms of heart disease..
helps lower cholesterol, elevated blood pressure and triglycerides...raises HDL (good cholesterol)

MGM Supplement:
5/9/00
Testimony From: David Badges
I found out in May of 1999 that I had cancer. Lymphatic cancer. Hodgkin's disease to be exact. At the time I knew I was going to have to go through a lot of garbage and was pretty scared about the whole thing.
I never had been much of a person for food supplements or vitamins or minerals or stuff like that, but I knew that I didn't want to leave this fight up to the surgeons and oncologists; I wanted to participate in the fight. I felt it was a better to bet on surgery plus chemotherapy plus radiation along with homeopathic methods that it was to depend on any one treatment.
My sister-in-law worked with MGM Supplements and was able to put me in touch with a medical practitioner who had a lot of experience with my disease and how to get ready for the treatment. Basically, surgery was first (within a week of the discovery of the tumor). The tumor was wrapped around my heart, so I had to go in immediately to take it out. There was no time to "get ready" or strengthen myself for surgery. However, after surgery, I started taking a plateful of pills several times a day. Yes,...I said a plateful. Sometime it was a chore just getting them down, but I did it.
Then I started chemotherapy. From the beginning, chemotherapy was not the nightmare everyone had told me it would be. I was rarely nauseous, and after an initial minor drop in the results of my blood tests (red cell count, etc.) the results actually climbed and maintained themselves at a high level throughout six months of treatment.
My only side effect from chemo (other than hair loss) was joint pain. My oncologist was amazed that my tests were so good given the amount of "poison" they were pumping into me every two weeks. I have now finished radiation and have been told by my oncologist that I am cured. He said he had never seen anyone respond as well to chemo and radiation without getting weak and torn down by it. What can I say? I know that it was the vitamins, minerals, and food supplements that kept my strength up to
withstand the treatment.

MGM Supplement: Interested in Some Extra Income?
I remember when I was around the age of eleven I had all these dreams and ambitions. (live in a huge house in the country, have a boat so I could go fishing when ever I wanted, have a big nice souped four-wheel-drive truck) Well after spending a enlistment in the Navy and now working on a degree in Kinesology, I started to think that my dreams might not be as easy to reach if I couldn't find a way to make some money. I was starting to think that maybe those dreams might not be as realistic as I had once thought.
I would like to spread the word about Shaklee. Like I said ealier, being a full time college student means that money is not something that I have a lot of. When I first started Shaklee (about 2 month ago) I was working 20 hours a week as a mechanic (making about $6.50 an hour) along with 16 hours of college credit at a major university. This was not an easy task. I was getting so tired of going to school all day then having to go out to work. Not to mention after work I would come home looking like I had just crawled out of barrel of oil.
My mother had gotten me on the shaklee products years ago. And the day that I turned 18 I was signed up a a distributor. For the first 7 years of being involved I really didn't do anything. When I did make up my mind that this was what that I wanted to do I started putting just 2 hours a night into it. In the first month of actually working to make money I made around $1000 for working 40 hours. I just finished my second month of working around 10 hours a week on shaklee and my check this month is $1800. Now, if I calculate how much money I made per hour this month it comes to about $45. Who wouldn't like to make $45 an hour. And the best part of it is my check just keeps on growing from month to month, and I'm not having to work anymore than I did when I started.
I have huge goals for my business and with these new goals I'm starting to dream again!
My mother has always told me that dreams become reality. I think that this is extremely important, because as we get older and we get stuck in the same old routine and we stop dreaming. Shaklee is going to be my ticket to a long, HEALTHY and happy life with the ones that I love.
I want everyone else to have this same opportunity. Believe in yourself that you can do it.. All that it takes is the motivation to make goals for yourself then start working toward them.
If your wanting to build a business without the stress of a boss or waking up at the crack of dawn then check out opportunity.mgmsupplement.com.
